Question about Kenmore 73503 Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

I just bought a house with a Kenmore stainless steel bottom drawer freezer. The freezer drawer does not close completely and large amounts of snow and ice accumulate inside. I have taken the drawer out, cleaned it and lubed the tracks with white lithium grease. When that didn't work I replaced the rubber seal, which left an even bigger gap. The gaps are along both sides. It looks like the bottom of the drawer shuts completely but the top does not.

Check top see if the arms of the drawer are fully seated into the rails which support it and extend from inside the freezer when the drawer is opened. On most french door refrig's, there are hooks on the back side and tabs on the front side which are sometimes hard to get back in. Then the door is locked into the rail with a screw at the point where the rail meets the freezer door.

Freezer door won't close completely

Check that there is no build up of ice that could be preventing the door from closing. Are all the drawers pushed fully in and is there any item in the freezer that is sticking out a bit too far. If the above are ok, check that the hinges are free and that the door stop arm is not jamming up and preventing the door from closing.

I have a Kenmore Elite Model 106.57863801 side by side stainless steel fridge. The doors squeak when opening and closing. How can I remedy this?

Good day,
Spraying a good lubricant on the hinge pins should solve your problem. Sprays like WD-40 shouldn't be used because they may come in contact with your food.
I suggest you call around to your local appliance parts houses to see which one's carry a "food compatable" spray.
It's safe to use around food and can be saved for future use. Most service techs I know carry it with them in the service truck to use when needed.

Refrigerator door left open for 11 days, now when closed it makes a loud vibrating noise, what could be the cause?

Hi,

Because the door was open a large amount of moisture would have been introduced to the evaporator. This moisture would condensate and freeze behind the back walls and cause ice build up on the fan motors and in the dampers. The best way to bring this back to normal is to turn the frig off for 24 hours with the doors open and food out of it. This will unthaw the ice. If you do not eliminate all the hidden frost and ice the frig will not operate to it's full potential.

How do I remove the freezer drawer

Remove phillips head screw from side of drawer supports, near the door. Lift door up and off the support rails. (easy to get off, sometimes a bit harder to get back on)

I have the freezer set at 3. There is ice forming all around the door and snow like frost on the food.

Frost buildup on food and ice around the door is due to warm air infiltration. This sounds like a door closure problem. Be sure that nothing is interfering with the drawer as it closes. Be sure to open the upper door and look down at the drawer top to see that the gasket is hitting the steel frame of the cabinet. Look all the way around the entire drawer front checking the seal.
Also open the drawer and hold it as it closes, so that if there is any food product binding it you will see it get hung open.
Good luck.

I had this problem with my Kenmore bottom freezer drawer also. I found that the problem was I had too much weight at the very front of the drawer. Try reorganizing and moving items, especially heavier items away from the very front. Worked for me.

Several things to check. Refrigerator needs to be put in manual defrost mode, then check defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
