SOURCE: technics SL-L92 directdrive automatic turntable (needle fixed in lid)

Not sure what could have happened here. Maybe a wire came loose - doubtful, but possible. You will have to open her up to see if there is anything unusual inside. Or, you'll need to take it to a service center for a diagnosis.

SOURCE: Turntable will not turn (spin)

It would appear this is a belt drive turntable - here's a link to a site where you can order a replacement, although you may be able to find a cheaper one.

SOURCE: JVC - problem. The turntable does not move,

Most modern day turntables are semi-automatic. You move the tonearm from the rest post
over to the record and the platter will start turning. There is a small microswitch inside
either below the arm base or near. There should be a flat bar connected to the base of the arm
and this will actuate the microswitch. The switch is wired in series to the rotation motor.

Solution: 1. Obviously verify the belt is on. Take off the rubber mat and rotate the platter.
The rotation motor is on the left and it has a small brass spindle. The belt should
be visable through the holes in the platter. If not pull the platter gently up, there will
be some resistance. The belt wraps around a smaller inner ring on the underside
of the platter and the rotation motor spindle. If it is degraded it will be stuck to the
platter or fall apart. Generally there 3 common sizes. ( 21.4 / 23.6 / 25 inch) they
readily available on E-Bay, search term "turntable belt".
2. Obviously check power.
3. Check the microswitch, it should "click", verify with ohm meter.
4. Some turntables have a "cut" or stop function. The arm must return first to rest before
starting again, again the microswitch is the trigger.

The tone arm drops onto the record, but then continues moving across the record without playing the record. Anyone know what's going on?

Does the needle actually contact the record? If not, you may be missing a "pad" under the record, or you may be simply missing the needle that needs to be there to follow the grooves.

Lift the turn table off the case and check the belt if it has one or the idler wheel that mechanically turns the table. Also check the motor to see that it rotates when you simulate a record play moving the needle carrier towards the center, The power must be on to test it. Becareful not to touch the 115 VAC line.

Needle skips

A needle is a precision part. Look to see if the needle has a conical point descending from the cartridge needle carrier. If not, replace the needle.
*Always protect the needle while you adjust things!
Pressure is essential for the needle to track. Turn the weight down until the needle just floats above the record. Zero the weight by turning just the weight indicator, not the weight. Now turn the weight to add 1.2 to 1.5 grams. (Always use the manufacturer's recommended weight if different!)
A level surface is important. Make sure the turntable is level.
Test the arm bearings:
Adjust the weight until the arm floats. With a feather, gently push the arm towards the center. Now gently push it back. The arm should move smoothly with no hesitation and easily. Reset the weight to 1.5 grams or less.
If your cabinet is moving when you walk around, the records will skip. Find a different place for the turntable or don't walk around. In severe cases, raise the weight to 1.75 to 2 grams, but this wears the needle fast an can cause distortion.

Won't stop turning

There are some gears which move back and forth under the turntable which link to the plated  Sometimes they just get stuck, sometimes just reseting them will resolve the issue. Sometimes you need to lubricate them since they a just getting stiff (only lubricate the center of the gears by the shaft they set on) It is rare that any parts are actually broken PS Protect the needle while attempting to service the unit Rob
