If you remove all the bolts.. i know.. not fun, there is a rubber gasket that the filter head rests on. Make sure its clean, wipe it good.. even the smallest amount of sand will cause a leak. After its clean, apply a 0-ring lube to it. put lid back in and snug the bolts, do not over tighten.. its a plastic filter, and will crack.

How to fix the oil leak on oil filter 1996 Acura

The filter maybe loose. Turn it clockwise BY HAND till its tight. the rubber ring around the top of filter should have been coated with old oil prior to install, helps it seal
OR you could have a hole in filter

Hope this helps Mike

Free mechanic advice

IF the oil is leaking when the engine is running then you have a pressure leak problem. Check that the oil filter is on tight but if over tightened it will leak at the seat or around the folded lip. IF the leak is at the point where the head is on the block then do a head bolt re-tension or replace the head gasket. Check that the oil pressure sender switch is not broken and leaking.

No problem just want to know the torque specs for the valve cover bolts on a 1977 ford f250 4x4 pk. I'm changining out the gaskets and dose not she to torque specs in my manuel.

Rocker arm cover bolts are usually torqued between 6-9 ft/lbs, or 88-105 inch lbs. A good wrist tight using a 1/4" drive socket is how I do them and have had great success like that. Always put all bolts in finger tight, then start in the middle of cover top then go to the bottom middle across working your way outward in and up down criss cross pattern. Go around the bolts twice. Most common for people to overtighten them and then the cover will leak again. They do not need to be extremely tight, just a good snug / wrist tight......Mike

How do you change the transmission filter in a 1997 jeep loredo

If you have a pan drain plug, drain the pan. If not, remove all bolts around it's perimeter, leaving two on one edge loose but not removed. Use a large catch pan or I've seen some people use a garbage pail cover over a smaller pan with holes drilled in the center of the cover so it drains.
Remove the filter, making note of the position of the filter and screw length (if any screws are longer or shorter they must go back in the same holes)
Remove ALL gasket material from the pan and rail, clean the pan and magnet.
Reverse process to assemble. Pan bolt torque is around 14 inch pounds.
You don't need a torque wrench if you use a 1/4 inch ratchet and do not pull down hard when tightening. DO NOT crush the gasket so tight it bulges out. Install all bolts by hand before tightening, tighten in a cross pattern, not around in a circle. Re fill with the proper fluid, run the engine till warm, check level, check for leaks. Make a short test drive, re-check level and again for leaks. If any leaks, tighten the bolt closest to the leak and also the two on either side of that one.

Fuel leak at front of engine at filter cap

these vehicles are notorious for leaking fuel at the valve on the back side of the fuel filter housing and when when the vehicle runs the fuel will cover the back side of the housing and run around the top kinda making it look as if the top is leaking. the filter kit for this vehicle comes with a new seal for the cap so if you replace the valve and replace the filter you should have no more leaks.

Fuel filter has a small leak. even afther tightin the halo bolt.?

The fuel filter has two washers that must be placed first in the banjo bolt and on top of the fuel-filter. Thus the fuel delivery line would be in the middle of those washers. The washers ensure tight sealing to prevent leakage.

You could have forgotten to wipe off the top of the fuel-filter before installing it.
