Question about GE Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a model # TFX20JRXD WH side by side GE refridgerator and water is running into the bottom of the freezer side. What could cause that. Also the water dispencer does not work but the ice maker does. Does this kind of refridgerator have a filter that may need to change.

This first thing I would do is remove the panel on the back of the fridge to access the control board. It should be about half way up on the left hand side if you are looking at the back of the fridge. There should be four 1/4" screws to remove. In the middle of that board there should be a reset button. Press that button then let me know if that worked.

probably have a clogged drain at the rear base of the freezer unit check at the very bottom of your freezer at the back look and see if the drain is covered with ice..

SOURCE: water dispenser not working but ice maker does

The water line freezes inside the freezer door. There is now an add-on water line heater you can install to thaw the line.

SOURCE: frost build up in freezer (ice maker section)

Your ice maker is overflowing and asking for to mush water to make the ice, you may have a real hi water pressure on your water supply
the is a easy way to adjust that but you are going to have to take
your ice maker out
then using a flat head screw driver remove the white square cover
you will see a gear and a adjustment screw and a lever like this

( - I + )

turn the screw to the minus sing a quarter way and install the ice maker back up.

Or a easier way is just closing the water valve before your fridge a little so it wont have so mush pressure and will not fill your ice maker so fast.

the ice maker feel up buy time not buy water level.

I have a side by side refridgerator , Lately after we open the frezzer side door and close it , After a couple of minutes water runs down from the bottom of the door

Ice inside freezer door is warming and melting. Some doors have fiberglass insulation and can be re-insulated (per a service bulletin from GE) but others have foamed in insulation which would require complete door replacement to correct that condition. I suggest contacting GE consumer relations with your model and serial number to see if they will help you.

GE model tfx26krda side by side refridgerator/freezer

If the drain catch tray is full the unit will overflow. Look underneath in the rear/fron of bottom the fridger to remove and empty the catch tray. If there is food or debris in the bottom of the fridge (drain grates) it will keep water from going down.

GE regrigerator not cooling or freezing

first defrost it by turning it off for 1\2 to 1 full day,put towels on the floor to catch the water, when a refridgerator gets frosted up it cant circulate the cold air,and if its one with the freezer on top then the cold air cant blow down into the refridgerator, check inside the refridgerator at the top where the thermostat cover is there will be a vent hole,it could have ice built up so much that its totally blocking the air flow. This usually happens when hot food is put in the refridgerator and causes steam,or the refridgerator runs too much caused by bad door seals,or the cooling fins on the back or bottom underneath plugged with dust and the freon gets too hot causing condensation inside the freezer which causes it to frost up,a plugged drain hole will back up water and freeze, the fan in the freezer may have stopped working, which is about a $60.00 part, and finally a bad defrost element (about a $40.00 part)which is a glass tube inside the freezer with a coiled up wire inside it that heats up at certain times to defrost any ice build up,(which is the last thing to check)

Water leaking out bottom of refrig/freezer

Sounds like maybe two things. Your freezer isn't closing correctly and condensation is forming, bad seal maybe. Other option is you need to clean the pan on the bottom of the fridge. Condensation gathers there and it is normal, but if you alot of crud down there it will cause water to gather. Hope this helps...
