Most likely a compatibility issue, does it work if you put in one 512 and the other 256?

to get into bios you need to press either f2 or del button in the startup, but there isn't much you can do in bios about this issue.

  • Priya darshan May 04, 2008

OK try this out..Once you restart your PC keep hitting F2 repeatedly. You will get the BIOS screen. If not try out the same with F8 or F12.You can also try hitting the DEL key repeatedly.

Another thing..Check if both th\e RAM cards are properly inserted in the slot.Remove and fix it again.Make sure it is tight and the two clips have locked the card when you have inserted them.

If I remember correctly, that Dell has two memory module slots, so 2 512 mb modules of non-ecc pc133 memory is the max that the system board will allow.
This is controlled by the system board chipset, and not by the bios.

I need to know how much ram my motherboard will be able to run without burning up? I have an Emachines t1090 w/ Windows XP, 900MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 128MB SDRAM, CD-ROM 48x Max. CD-Drive, 20GB Hard...

The max for your system is 512MB. You have two memory slots and one has a 128MB chip so if you want 512MB, you need two 256MB chips and throw away the 128MB.
At Newegg, a 256MB chip is $42+ shipping of $1. I'd consider getting a new computer instead.
I don't think memory upgrade will tax your system cooling.

Total amount of RAM not recognized by computer

are the modules the same specs? you may have some incompatibality between them. the board may be reading the ram right it may be you have four 256 sticks instead of 2 of each. read the motherboard manual it might shed some light here.

Presario won't recognize second 256 RAM

Remove the original module, install just the new one and then start your computer. If it doesn't start, the memory you bought is bad. The system boards used in the Compaqs will auto-detect memory, and there are no jumpers or BIOS settings needed.

Ram memory Problem?

Go to http://www.memoryx.net and run the 'Identify my computer' bit, clicking on 'Scan my system' and follow instructions.

The other thing is that if the MAX is 512, you'd want low-density memory.

Can you expand the memory on a Systemax Intel SIS651 System

Your motherboard is actually a Foxconn 651M03.

According to your system you have :
512MB DDR333 PC2700 Non-ECC Memory (512MB x 1)
(One stick of 512MB)

The motherboard manual says this:
System Memory
Two 184-pin DDR DIMM slots
Supports PC1600/PC2100/PC2700 memory
Supports 64Mb/128Mb/256Mb/512Mb technology up to 2GB

(This means you can have a total of up to 2 Gigabytes of RAM)

If you upgrade your RAM, you will need to make sure that you get the correct type.

If you want to keep the RAM you have, you will only be able to have 1.5 GB of RAM because you only have two slots to work with. If you want to upgrade to the full 2 GB, you will need to buy 2, 1 GB sticks.

Compaq Presario 5352 memory installation recognizing

be sure that the memory u got is compatible in your presario 5352. I tell you that adding 512mb to current 64 mb maybe a problem. you should remove the 64mb and replace it by 512mb and be sure that the new memory is compatible. want more information about your presario go to www.hp.com then search "compaq presario 5352"
