Question about Maytag Bravos MTW6600T Top Load Washer

Open Question

I have a Maytag MTW6600TQ0 top load washer. It leaks during washing. I was told to replace the tub ring. Did that...still leaks. Was told to check the hoses. Did that...still leaks. Was told to check the pumps. Did that...still leaks. The only place I can see where water might be coming from is the very bottom of the washer (tub). Any suggestions!?!? THANKS!!!!

SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

The ring is called a snubber. Its not very easy to replace either. I recommend new springs too.

SOURCE: Washer spins but not enough to extract water from clothes or tub.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Rate me pl.....if helped.

Washer leaks during fill up from underneath

It is going to either be the tub hose that goes to the pump or the pump itself. If both of these are ok then you would need to replace the tub seal. To replace the center tub seal you remove the tub and motor from the washer by getting the 2 springs off there and taking the hoses off. Unplug the motor harness and the whole thing comes out. Here it some photos of how it all goes down.

More than likely a tub seal issue which is a big job but you can DIY if you can deal with the down time.

Top loading maytag washer leaking water during wash cycle

Hi, There are two spring clips located in the gap between the top and front panel. They are the edges.
If the pump and hoses aare ok, fill the washer with water and look up toward the center of the tub abd transmission area. It migth have a seal going bad.

I hope this helps.

underneath the agitator is a graphite seal ring and nut that seals the inner tub and the outer tub. a suitable spanner wrench or a 6 inch channel lock plier will remove this locknut. replace the seal.
