If it heats for the first 15 to 30 minutes and then no heat you have bad gas coils, when the coils are starting to fail they will work like normal until they heat up and then they fail, they will work again when they cool down and then fail again when heated up.unplug the dryer and remove the two phillips screws that hold the door on and remove the door.also remove the two screws opposite the door screws and grab the right and left part of the frame and pull it forwards to remove it.you'll see the gas valve and the two coils are on top of it.just remove the two phillips screws, remove the cover and change out the coils,do them one at a time because they are different, one has three prongs and the other has two.while you have the dryer open vac it out,if you have a shop vac you can blow the lint from the back to the front and vac it out, also blow off the motor, alot of lint gets stuck in the motor.clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and if you have a long vent line, remove it from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, you have an open flame in there and i've seen them catch fire, also if you do this once a year you'll never have any problems with the dryer and your clothes will dry on time, let me know how you make out and good luck.

I don't know, but it sounds like one of the heating elements are burnt out/no longer working. I had a similiar problem 5 years ago.. they're pretty easy to replace yourself if you are handy and have a screw driver. I think the one for my stove cost $18 to replace (5 years ago) here's the trouble shooting guide online for you model:

My maytag neptune front load dryer model #MDE9700AYW shows a T5 code and will not heat.

Check to see if your thermistor is bad by measure the resistance. It should be 10K Ohms at room temperature.
If it's bad, replace it BUT you have to CLEAR to error code.
1. Enter to Service Mode by press CHIME and TEMPERATURE keys for 3 seconds or until 3 beeps are heard.
2. Access Diagnostic Codes by pressing WRINKLE PREVENT. A d will be displayed. Rotate the CYCLE SELECTOR KNOB in either direction to read it.
3. Press SENSOR DRY and TIME keys for 3 seconds to clear it.
4. Power OFF to exit Service Mode
5. Power ON

I have a Maytag Neptune MAH 6700 AWW. It is shutting off and giving error code tE. Customer service does not recognize the error code. Can you help?

This is a problem with the signal from the water heating element "Thermistor" a Thermistor is a solid state sensor that senses temperature, in this case water temp. The Thermistor is part of the washers water heating assembly and not sold separately from it. There is a factory repair bulletin associated with the problem and the new part has improved reliability. I can't understand what the Maytag folks you called would tell you it is not listed, it is a common fault in the Neptune. Please rate my help. Thanks

Check for the wire inside the unit, maybe it's broken or cut off, replace or join it again will solve the problem

Neptune mdg3000aww starts heating and runs fine but stops heating shortly after start up can restart heater starts again and shuts down

If the machine keeps running but just not heating you have a thermostat issue. It could be the operating therm. or the high temp limit therm malfunctioning, shutting off the element.

If the machine stops running completely, check the door switch.

Maytag elec. neptune dryer won't heat

The first thing I would check would be your high limit thermostat. It is located near the heater and is wired in series with the heater. The contacts in a high limit thermostat remain closed at temperatures below 250 degrees. The contacts will open and interrupt the circuit to the heater when the operating thermostat, thermistor or electronic control fails to cycle properly. The most common condition that causes the high limit thermostat to operate are vent restrictions, blower failure or a defective operating thermostat or thermistor.
If those are good, then,

Check your dryer heater. With both heater power terminals disconnected you can check for resistance. The typical dryer heater resistance is around 20 Ohms.
If you can not read resistance on the dryer heater then it is an open circuit and needs replaced. Also if your meter indicated an electrical path between either of the heater terminals to the heater frame (ground) then it’s bad. The heater must be isolated from its mounting frame.

My maytag neptune gas dryer model #MDG3000AWW When I push the start button on my maytag neptune dryer it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't and then it gets this smell like something is burning?...

It sounds like the drum bearings are seizing up preventing the drum from rolling easily, and when the motor runs, it can't pull the drum belt around the drum that won't turn, so starts squealing and burning the belt.

You need to lubricate/replace the drum bearings, and replace the belt.

hello kellygubser,
If you are sure the thermal switch is ok.. have you checked the high temp ( bi metal snap switch) too? Here is a link to the wiring diagram of your dryer. You can see that there are a few other temp switches in circuit of the heating element that would disble it.. Hope this helps
