Question about Galileo FS-95DX (800x95) Telescope

1 Answer

We Just bought this telescope at a garage sale for our 11 year old. There wasn't any paperwork or software with it. We have never use a telescope, so this will sound stupid to anyone who has, but... When we look into it we see a reflection of ourselves. Can anyone give us some guidance? Thank you!

This is a small reflector style telescope. The end with the focuser and the small finder scope is the UP END -- the mirror is on the bottom toward the ground.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. Take the scope outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object.

Read my TIPS on my profile page.

Here is the web site for Galileo telescopes-- they may have a manual. HOWEVER the manual only contains assembly instructions. It does NOT tell you how to use the telescope, how to focus, which eyepiece to use, and how to locate those SMALL objects in the night sky. Sky objects are about the size of the tip of your finger held at arm's length. The scope must be pointed directly at them to see anything.

Buy these two books-- "Turn Left at Orion", and "Nightwatch".

Try to locate a local Astronomy club to help you with the scope-- attend their meetings and star parties.

Need cd for the astrolon telescope 402 power

I have the 402 power astrolon telescope (item 36755), with the wooden tripod. I have the manual and the original CD (there's probably a more updated version--I've had this for approx. 10 yrs.). As for the manual, if you haven't found one, I'll make a copy and send it to you (it's only 6 small pages). Also, their customer service number is
800-637-3455. Hope this helps.

Meade 50az p175 power telescope manual. I bought this model telescope at a garage sale and it didn't come with a manual.

Hi please find above a link where you can download a manual. Often a direct approach to the manufacturer or agent or a Google search may yield a manual. So if this one isn't what you need, please go to the Meade website and contact them and ask for one i am sure they will be only too happy to help.

We bought an edu-science telescope at a garage sale and the eye-piece was broken. How can we get a bew part?

Eyepieces come in 3 sizes .965, 1.25, and 2 inch sizes. Measure the hole in the focuser and buy the correct size. The .965 size is hard to find.

Here are two retailers:

I recently bought a Cstar Optics T45375 from a garage sale. it seems one of the inner scopes inside the eye piece is missing. is there anywhere i can go to see if it is missing and if so where can i get a...

Inner scope??? you mean the eyepiece (s) are broken. Measure the hole eyepieces come in 3 sizes, .965, 1.25, and 2 inch sizes.

The .965 eyepieces are very difficult to find as most amateur telescopes use the 1.25 inch size.

Try Telescope Warehouse or Agena Astroproducts for a replacement eyepiece:

Don't ever buy another off brand telescope at a garage sale that you know nothing about.

I just bought one at a garage sale and donn't know where to look thru

You never said the make or model or type of telescope???

Refractors have a lens in front and the eyepiece goes in the back end of the tube.

A reflector has a mirror and the eyepiece usually goes in NEAR the front end of the tube.

You will not find a manual for that telescope. Look on the Bushnell manual web site and locate one similar to your telescope. They all assemble in a similar fashion.

Try here: http://www.nexstarsite.com/NSOL.htm.

That is the software that has been shipping with it. You'll also find lots of great information on the Nexstar Resource Site.

Other software such as Starry Night should work too.

Garage sale purchase

This is a small telescope. You will get limited views with this scope. However you will be able to see the craters on the moon and the rings of saturn.Although they will not have any detail. You will be able to use it as a terestrial scope. For that it is ideal. You will need an erecting lens to turn the view right side up.You need atleast 1 eyepiece, finderscope, erecting lens(for terestrial views)and maybe a barlow lens.Keep in mind it is not magnification you are looking for it is the ability to gather light and a 50mm is not going to gather much.the bigger the objective lens the more light it will gather.Think of animals that come out at night, their eyes are bigger than those that are out in day light.Because the bigger the lens the more light it gathers,so magnification only plays a part if you can see the target with your light gathering ability.Because just like 1000x0 is 0 the same gos for telescopes.1000xblack is black..
