Look for possible dirt or sticky material in the roller. use some methy spirit to clean the rollers that take up the paper.
Check if there is any paper stuck on to the rollers, if so remove and clean.
Check if there is any wearing of the rollers, alignment of the rollers.
Finally use printer paper as thin paper might be chewed in.
Hope you check with my advice.

My mp250 is taking the paper in sideways and I have looked and the rollers do work. What could be the cause and am I able to fix this problem myself?

oh dear, Never spray lubricant or anything other than air into a printer. I presume when you say "sideways" you mean "skewed".
If so then you have an object in the paper path that will cause this.

Let the machine try to feed the paper then when it jams VERY SLOWLY pull it back out. No look at the leading edge of the paper for a nick in it. The nick is caused by the paper hitting an object. Now lay the paper on top of the paper that is in the feeder. Look at where the nick is. Now refer this to the machine so you are looking into the machine in the position of where the nick is. Shine a torch into the feeder and you should hopefully see the foreign object and try to remove it with an opened paper clip bent into a "L" shape.
Good luck.

Why does my printer produce wrikled printouts

Your paper feeder is only working on one side causing the paper to try to go sideways. This will wrinkle the paper just like it is fed in crooked.

Anyone having trouble with canon printer pixma mp 210 not feeding paper. i have tried every thing that the maintenance tools have. reinstalled the software. there is in the center obstructing the path....

did the paper feed sideways if so there is something stuck in the feeder, here what you do fold the bond paper into half then feed it manualy open the cover of the printer so you can see the paper pass through push through until it will pass underneath the small roller then pull it out slowly be sure the paper pass all the small roller, dont forget to unplug the unit from the outlet before executing this step

Paper jam I got the big piece of paper out but cannot find the small piece What can I do

The paper jammed can be found in the paper tray, inspect for a paper jammed and feeder roller.

It can be found in the cartridge compartment inside the printer.

If you use the top feeder when copying, it might be there in the top loader paper. open and inspect there

It can be found in the toner cartridge itself.

Lastly, it can be found into the back door of the printer. Check for the door both sideways or back door of the printer.

Paper feeder stuck

If the paper feeder stuck, do the following:
  1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.
  2. If paper is stuck inside, open the printer cover and remove the jammed paper, including any torn pieces. Then close the printer cover.
  3. If paper remains near the sheet feeder, press the paper feed roller lever inside the paper feeder to release the jammed paper, then carefully pull it out.
  4. Load the paper correctly.
  5. Press the cp_button_14.gif stop button to resume printing.
  • If the printer continues to jam or misfeed paper, and you are certain that there are no foreign objects lodged down inside the paper feed area, your printer may require service. Please call Epson technical support for further assistance.

Canon MP730 Paper feed is not working correctly.....keeps jamming and feeds the paper incorrectly

There are two feeders on this MP730. There is the sheet feeder on top and there is the paper feeder on the back. You can have problems with both.

    The sheet feeder on top.
If the problem is things go through somewhat sideways, and if this is the problem, stuff some postit notes between the back grey thing and the feeder tray to eliminate this problem. Add or subtract to the wad to make it right.

If the problem is it does not grip the sheet, what I used to do is to help it through by one sheet at a time, painful. I got frustrated with this so for scanning, I have a Snap Scan 1500, which is faster and better.

    The paper feeder.
A small piece of paper left in the paper infeed path can cause a major problem. You cannot have anything in the paper path that will skew the paper, so you must get any little bit of restriction out of there.
As the printer gets older, you will have to produce your own guides to prevent this skewing, as the guides on the printer do not do this well. I use clamps and wooden guides to keep things in line.

HP scanjet 5590 pulls the paper half the way in and then starts pulling sideways and then gets stuck.

Have you checked to make sure there isn't previously jammed paper in the feeder?

It sounds like the paper is getting stuck on just one side which is causing the paper to start going sideways.

When printing, the paper is grabbed by one side and prints wonky. It seems to print better when selecting Matte card, but then uses more ink. How can i get it to print straight on plain paper?

On the paper tray there is a move-able guide, when you place a number of sheets in the paper tray you need to adjust this guide so that the paper is held in place with no sideways movement.....

If this guide is not in the right place the paper can be pulled to one side by paper pick up...

If the guide is set right and it still happens, get a torch and take the paper out of the tray and look down in where the paper goes.

There may be an obstruction in the side of the feeder.

This could be a small piece of paper or another object...

    Jam in the document feeder

I think I found my answer. You don't have to un do any screws. Lift up the cover to the automatic feeder. You will see a spring on the side of the mechanism towards the front; remove the spring; that will allow you to lift up the little arm the spring was attached to and remove the roller or bar and the light blue/green plate just under it. Then you will be able to see the jammed paper, which which I was able to carefully pull out with a pair of tweezers. Some was under rubber rollers, but when I pulled the paper sideways it slipped out. Now it works!
