An internal capacitor that runs this display has gone bad. The repair cost will outweigh a new replacement

The restarting can be done in the following way:

3 Use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to select Safe Mode, press ENTER.
Now to the display settings
1 Open Display Properties in Control Panel
2 Click the Settings tab
3 If for some reason you are not in safe mode go through following:
In Colour quality, clock to alower settiing
Move Screen Resolution slider to the left if you want to reducethe size of the desktop
To Refresh frequency click Advanced and check the Adapter and Monitor.
4 After you have made your changes click OK
restart the computer if you are told to do so. But do not do it in safe mode..

Dell Dimension 3000 Video problem

There may be a problem with your windows installation. Search Google for Hirens boot CD, it is a free download and should contain a live XP installation. When you turn on the computer tap the appropriate button to reach the boot menu, then insert the CD and select your CD drive. Once booted it should display a live XP.
Alternatively you may have your monitor set to an incompatible resolution. If tapping F8 won't display the advanced boot menu then try finding an auto setup on your monitor or change the resolution using the monitors controls. If the advanced boot menu does display then select low resolution mode.
Hope this helps,

My iLo moniter keeps telling me that my signal is out of range, i don't know what this means or how to fix it?

It means that the screen resolution and/or refresh frequency that have been set in your computer's display properies are beyond this monitor's capabilities.
You don't specify your system type or exact monitor model, but you have to:
1) Find out the optimum (native) resolution of your monitor
2) Go to Display Properties and set that resolution. Obviously you will have to make the monitor show something in order to do it - if we're talking Windows, you'll have to boot to Safe Mode.

Screen is blank, computer makes all proper sounds as if booted correctly. the volume up and volume down LED's flash, also, the number lock light stays on. dell studio 1536

Sounds like your screen went out. Try hooking a monitor into the blue port on the back of the laptop. If the screen shows up, the LCD probably either came disconnected inside or the inverter went out. This is a simple fix for a qualified professional. If not, press fn and F11 (the f key with a picture of a box with an arrow in it). If the screen still doesn't come on, it's most likely the video card or motherboard, which usually is more expensive than the computer to get fixed.

GX520 screen display message: cannot display this video mode

This means that the windows setting you have set can not display on your current monitor. There are two ways to fix this, one is to boot the computer in safe mode by pressing f8 after the POST screen and change the resolution and the other is to plug the computer into a different monitor to see if supports that resolution and then change the resolution in windows to a lower setting.

In case you don't know how to change the resolution in windows, follow below.

Right click on the desktop
Properties
Settings at the top
Move the slider to 1024x768
Click ok

Try rebooting. If that still doesn't work, try another resolution.

When i power it on it comes on then screen goes black but power boton shows its on.

You might have the resolution set too high so when it goes into Windows the monitor can't display it. Try booting into Safe Mode to change the resolution.

There is a guide on how to boot into Safe Mode here

When I press the power button to turn the computer on, nothing is displayed on the LCD screen. Power light, Hard Drive light, and Battery Light all appear normally. I hear the fan blowing internally and...

Check the resolution of the screen by right clicking on an empty part of the screen and choosing properties. Go to settings and make the resolution 1078 x 768 and hit apply and ok. There are instances when the resolution will change from a software update etc. that is not supported by the monitor or graphics card.

Video problem on my Dell Dimension 4600 PC, HELP ASAP.

the resolution set by default when you load your graphics driver is outside the range of your monitors capability.

try starting in safe mode then adjust your resolution to 640 by 480 then restart.
if this works, adjust upwards to 1024 by 768
then up again till the screen blanks.
when it does, dont panic, wait 20 seconds and the settings will restore - you then have the optimum settings for your monitor.

good luck

Laptop won't boot (display problems)

If the diagnostics displays on the LCD screen but you get no display when Windows starts to load, it sounds like you have a video software driver problem. Try tapping the F8 key when you power on your laptop and boot in Safe mode. If it works in safe mode then you need to check you driver. You can also try connecting the laptop to an eternal monitor and see what happens.
