Freezer setting was not changed. I just raised the freezer temp and put a thermometer in to see if it rises. Water in fridge now works. Fridge temp is very cold 6 degrees colder than normal on my thermometer and no setting have been changed there either.

First I would make sure that the thermostat for the freezer wasn't changed to a lower setting. Once verified that it has not been changed I would raise it some to see if the freezer tempreture rises. You will need to put a digital thermometer inside the freezer to monitor the temp and accertain just what is going on.

If this doesn't change the tempreture of the freezer you need a new thermostat. Should be available at . They also have excellent installation instructions on their website.

The water does not go through the freezer, except for the water being used by the icemaker, and should be cooled on the refrigerator side. I would replace the filter first. It is probably due anyway for changing. If this does not solve the problem check the temp on refrigerator side. It may be too low and causing the water to freeze.

The light problem is either the bulb is blown or the switch is bad or sticking. Checking the bulb requires a DVM set to ohms. You want to see a low resistance, about 100 ohms or so. These bulbs are special and made to survive the cold so don't use an ordinary bulb. It will not last long. If the bulb is ok check that the switch on the door jamb somewhere is not hanging up. It should make connection when the door is opened. If it isn't working properly replace it. Parts available at .

If your problem is the freezer is building up frost I would look at the heater within the freezer. With the unit unplugged you should be able to disconnect the wires to the heater and check it with a DVM to see that it has a low but not zero resistance. If the element is ok you should replace the defrost cycle control mechanism. Again should be able to provide the parts and instructions.

Between the two systems, thermostat or defrost, one is bad.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating!!

My amana abb2522few1 fridge is not getting cold but freezer works fine.. Freezer fan is working as well.. Please help.. Thanks

either the damper vent door is stuck/frozen or broken in the closed position and cant let cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator, its located between the freezer and refrigerator compartments,or if theres a icy frosty buildup on the inside rear freezer wall panel, then the evaporator is frozen over and cold air cant be blown down to the refrigerator, then it becomes a defrost problem, remove this panel and test defrost heater element and thermostat and power to these components or the defrost timer or A.D.C. circuitry that supplies power to these components

The freezer works well but the fridgedoes not get cold enough

all the fridge does is blow cold air from the freezer down into the fridge section so if the freezer is working then either the evap fan isn't working or the air ducts are frozen up.first thing open the freezer door, you should hear the fan blowing,if not the fan motor could be bad,if it is blowing, touch the back inside wall of the freezer,is there any ice or like snow on it,if so you have a defrost problem, one more thing to check, open the fridge door, look under the bottom draws,is there any water there? or any water dripping into the fridge section from the freezer,if so you have a blocked drain and the air ducts are frozen.let me know what you find, send the model number off of the fridge, open the fridge door and look on the left side up near the ceiling, you should see a tag with the model and serial numbers just send the model

1996 Frigidaire Fridge/Freezer.... The fridge is leaking underneath suddenly, soaking a full sized towel every 2 hours. The water rung out of the towels is slightly brownish in color. No leaks can be...

I'd check the water supply line to the fridge. If kinked of damaged, may be the source of the leak (make sure that the the connection point to the building's cold water pipe isn't leaking - and simply running down the supply line to the fridge!)

Of course, it could be a cracked solenoid valve (turns water on and off when the ice maker calls for water for ice), loose or broken clamp, broken filter (if equipped), etc. All these connection points in the water supply lines should be visible.

Unplug the fridge as soon as you can reach it before working on a wet floor with live electricity.

Please rate my reply if it was helpful - good luck!

Kenmore side-by-side not dispensing ice or water, the ice maker has been replaced, no water going into the tray. I cannot locate the water filter, does this model have one?

Don't know what is the model number of your fridge. 1.Need check electric water valve under the fridge. If that fridge made by GE (Kenmore just a Sears brand name and they use several others manufacturers for refrigeration), usually it's a frozen plastic water supply line inside freezer door. You could unplug fridge for 24 hours (you have to put food from freezer to other freezer).

Will not dispense ice or water, beeps when lever is pushed, no interior light in frig part. both frig and freezer work, freezer light works

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

Its a side by side Siemens KA62DP90 GB freezer/ is new, i just turned on the fridge yesterday and also the icemaker and found my whole freezer frozen the next morning with water seeping out.

This may be due to any small leaks in the water supply line going to the ice maker. The leak caused water to flow outside and a part of it was frozen by the freezer. That is what happened. It is having only a simple repair to replace the pipe. But since this one is new, you may be well inside the warranty period. So don't take any risk. Just contact your dealer. Else it may spoil your warranty agreement.

Water dispenser on refrigerator not working but ice maker is making ice

Most likely a frozen line... If you can hear a faint pump noise near filter when you try to dispense wate, that tells you the pump is woking. rIt could be a frozen reservoir(located on fridge side behind vegetable bins) or the line that runs thru freezer door to the dispenser. Use a hair dryer to thaw out reservoir or try to turn off the unit for a few hours. (That did it for me). If it's the line in freezer door, shut off unit, open freeezer door for a few hours and seal off freezer with a towel or cardboard to keep all frozen. If not this, may be a clogged water line from filter or a bad valve.

Frost build up behind/inside back freezer panel

I have same problem, it usually happens after someone leaves door open too long or after 4-6 months. I usually place two frozen milk jugs full of water in the upper fridge and tape the upper fridge door closed at night before bed so the kids don't open and let the upper food get warm., Unplug the fridge and open the freezer and remove all drawers (place excess frozen food in freezer in garage) , leaving the freezer open with a towel in the bottom to catch the melting water from the back panels inside and the next morning wipe the fridge bottom clean and plug it back up and replace everything. I hate that I paid so much for this fridge and have to defrost a couple times a year. However found out too late to return back to the store. It seams like it should have a cycle that heats the back plate every so often to warm and evaporate the ice that collects, but I haven't heard or can't find anything on that.

Water was frozen all inside the freezer and fridge temp was high

Self defrost mechanism may have an issue. If it stays on too long you will have excessive temps build up in refrig as well as freezer. There is also a defrost thermostat that is supposed to turn compressor back on when temps get too high - check that out also.
