Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hello! I have a Kenmore Dishwasher Model # 665.15805890. The dishwasher came with the house and I'm guessing it is around 10 years old. My toddler was having a great time flipping the door to the soap dispenser back and forth until he pulled the door off of the pin. Now, I can't seem to position the spring in a way so that the door will spring back. I never looked closely at the hinge before, so I don't know if that is the only reason the door will not release the detergent, or if something else is also wrong. Because the soap isn't released at the right time, my dishes aren't coming out clean. Can you help me? Thanks, Karen

Yes, the diagram shows the spring, but not how it is positioned for use. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi.

Please see if the diagram here can help you.
Check if the spring is that indicated with nr ten in diagram.

The spring is positioned inside the little dispenser door panel (pt 9 in picture), it works as a flipper leaning on the panel dowel pin(prt11). The two ends enter into two holes, the square sized part is in contact with the door panel to push it out. Check the dowel pin, if it is loose, then that goes inside the spring, otherwise on top.

Hello, I am sorry that your dish washer isn't working. One of the biggest problems with these new dishwasher is they install the control on top of the door and the operational circuit board below the control panel. Inside the door is acceptable to moisture which creates all kinds of problems. It not the spray arm or the float, or the pump. it is where they put the circuitry to control the dish washing machine.

I hoping that all you will need is a push button control strip for this dish washer. moisture get in the micro switches and make them inoperable. These button in the control strip are hermetically sealed against moisture....for a while.

Remember, it depends on how long has the dishwasher been working and what will be the cost to repair your dishwasher. Dishwasher are really good for 10 to 12 years of service. I worked on a Kenmore that was 25 years old. I told the lady of the house it is time for a new dishwasher. I could have repaired it, but really it not worth it when it is this old. GB...stewbison

Hello,

If your model has a JETDRY rinse agent dispenser be sure to use it..if it does not have that dispenser and just only the detergent dispenser use the JETDRY in the dry version that is in a little basket and hangs on the upper rack.

Hello.
If it's filling all the time when dishwasher is not even running? The water inlet valve that the house water supply connects to at the dishwasher,is sticking open and needs to be replaced..what you can do now to stop it from constantlu filling is turn off water supply to the d/w from under the kitchen sink.

Typically the model number is on a label on the egde of the door inside or on the rim of the tub..it would be needed to order a water valve

Dishwasher leaks during the wash and rinse cycles from the front

Without knowing the model number of this Sears Kenmore dishwasher, it is difficult to be specific in a solution.
There is a float/switch that controls the amount of water added before each wash or rinse cycle. Replacing that float would be the first step.
Can not be more specific without knowing the model number.

My dishwasher

sounds like the fuse on the control blew. you can replace the fuse for around $20 or you can cut and splice the wires for free. If that doesnt work then you may have a loose conection in your junction box under the dishwasher.

DISHWASHER NOISE

A noise could be created by something getting down into the motor-pump assembly piece of glass, piece of bone, wire tie anything really. If this is the case and you can remove it before it causes further damage problem solved. At ten years old the problem may be the motor and or pump one thing to consider before putting money into it is disheashers average 7-10 years these days. Good Luck.
