Here is my problem. I have a ThinkPad T41 2379-DKU, and there is absolutely no display. I have a black screen. The machine does boot, but no display. I removed the hard drive and placed it on someone else's thinkpad (same model), and I get to the ctrl-alt delete screen.

I also tried docking it ,than ran the external monitor, and still nothing (with the original laptop). I have looked everywhere (including IBM's site), to find WHERE the display card is so, I can replace it or, know what to ask for. Do you know where I can find it. Is it under the keyboard? Is it on the bottom of the machine? PLEASE HELP! titabrown@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance..

I think that most of the information that I can provide is in that article. If you have specific additional questions, I can try to help. By the way, the T41 that I couldn't get running ended up needing a new mother board. Oh well...

or directly for the following: modem: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4ZFS2T

VIDEO CONTROLLER: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-41918

ETHERNET (wired): http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62922
and Wireless:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67214 The wireless drivers do have different models. .. you made need to be sure which one your after. What I have linked above is used as more common.
The links provided above are for Windowx XP to be specific. If different OS, the 1st link will be the most appropriate.
The drivers for the T41 are similar for the T40.
Hope this helped out ... good luck

IBM thinkpad T41 video problem

Connect your laptop to an external monitor, you will need to press the Fn + one of the Function keys that control switching the video to the external video port and the LCD screen.
If the video on the external monitor is perfect then the video chip is OK and the fault is either a faulty LCD or LCD connectors on the motherboard is not making proper electrical contact. You can pull apart the laptop and reseat these connectors, there are usually two connectors.
