Question about GE GSS25VGMWW / GSS25VGMCC Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

I have a GE side-by-side, model GSS25VGMD WW. The problem we are experiencing is with the ice maker. When water goes to the ice maker the water doesn't stop, it continues to pour into the ice tray resulting in one big frozen block. How can we fix this?

SOURCE: ice maker is leaking into the tray where the ice is dispensed causing the ice to become embedded into the tray

The ice maker usually is an easily removable assembly, lift and pull or something like that. It may be the little water line has cracked, plastic don't like being cold.

Hello there,
You need to check the water inlet valve, it is having a problem, it is not shutting close after filling the ice maker with water. It is already defective hereby causing water to pour out into the tray therefore producing the big slab of frozen water.
You will have to test and replace the water inlet valve. That way, it will stop pouring water into the already made ice that is in the tray.
Hope this helped. All the best Elect_Comp

do you live in an area where there are rodents such as mice ? if yes there is a possibility that they have eaten the plastic water line that feeds from the ice maker water valve to the ice maker itself . when they get thirsty you would be surprised what they will actually chew through to get water. regardless the cause, you probably have a broken water line between the ice maker water valve and ice maker unit .

I have a GE Refrigerator GSS22JFMD WW with a ice

The water supply in the recessed part of your door is frozen. very common with this model. You will need to turn unit off and with freezer door open use hairdryer on the area where water dispenses and on the recessed area as well. This is time consuming but only other remedy is to leave off and door open for 24 hours. hope this helps.
