We have a 10 yr old GE Advantium SCA2000. The door appears to be loose at the hinge. When closed the door slightly drops down just enough for the oven not to start or once running it will stop. How can I adjust the door (at the hinge) to tighten this up? Thanks Rg

GE profile advantium 120 display out, no operation but turntable runs when closed

Check for continuity across temperature cut out switches. Sometimes the connector (shovel plug) is defective.
Next is the printed circuit board: (1) Look for bad solder joints and (2) check the MGT relay. It is on the PCB and has 2 shovel plugs on the top.

"closing door, flickered when checking the door switches" = Loose connection somewhere.

I have an Advantium 240 mounted over the range. There's a little trap door that covers an interior light while cooking. My door gets stuck and I hear a motor run. How can this be repaired?

That's the damper. It has to be closed when microwaving, and open when convection cooking.

See my video and also see the description text here GE Advantium microwave oven clicking noisy SCA1000 SCA2000 for more information.

Please note the phone number in the video is incorrect. See the Web site for more.

Door hard open

It sounds like the hinges are worn out or broken. Probably cheaper to buy a new one that to fix the old one.

I ordered and received a replacement door for my 2002 spacemaker ge microwave. The lady I spoke with said I would be able to install it myself. I figured there would be directions in the box explaining...

HELLO.

Below is the solution to replace your microwave door.

Unplug the oven from the outlet and/or shut off the gas valve. Open the old door completely and unlock the hinges by pushing the hinge out toward you and down toward the door. Slightly close the door and lift the door up and toward you.

Install the new door. Make sure the wall oven door hinges are aligned to go into the rectangular wall oven slots. Place the hinges into the slots. The hinges should "catch" on the slots comfortably.

Ensure the door is fully opened and push the hinge locks into an upright position. The two hinge locks should rest on top of the two hinges that are inserted in the wall oven slots.

Close the door and open it several times to make sure the door is properly opening and closing. Replug the oven back into the outlet and/or turn the gas valve back on.

Thanks.

Interior light always on Ge advantium 120

I bet by now your microwave is no longer working....did the bottom or top "hook" finally break off? I found that mine had cracked and started coming loose and so when it closed it was no placing enough pressure on the internal safety switch that tells the oven the door is shut. I was able to use a sturdy plastic glue to solve the problem but finally after about 2 years of fixing it I can no longer get it to bond. Now, I'm looking for a new part. Who makes a product this expensive with plastic parts!!?!??!?!? So frustrating.

GE Advantium SCA1000 not heating

That would be 'the primary interlock (top door switch), or its mount may be loose or cracked.

It may be a coincidence, or not. Hard to say.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

But it could be misalignment from the door work. Too bad he didn't just replace the door handle. That's such an easy job.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

It's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

Repair or replace?

MICROWAVES ARE MADE TO BLOW THE FUSE IF THERE IS A POSSIBLY OF DANGER--THAT'S A GOOD THING...SAFTY SWITCHES ARE MADE TO CLOSE(SOME UN-CLOSE) WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN AND SHUT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU DO HAVE A LITTLE DOOR PROBLEM---THE REPAIR SHOULD BE FIXABLE AND MAYBE REASONABLE,,MY GUESS COST-WISE ,,,75.00,,OF COURSE ,IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE SERVICE COMPANY--TRY AN INDEPENDANT SERVICER (NOT SEARS,ETC) GOOD LUCK TUNICA
