Question about Garden

2 Answers

Upon initiating the door to open, the opener first starts the closing action with the door already closed, reverses direction, then quits trying to raise the garage door. The green battery status light is contiuously flashing indicating the battery is charging even though the unit is 3 years old. The Diagnostic light is flashing 12 times then pausing.

I assume that you don't know what the problem is. In the owners manual, there is described a reciever logic assembly. Is this what I should be trying to find?

The question is located in the Riding Mowers & Garden Tractors section.

Also, what is the brand name and model # of the garage door opener?

To look up what the Diagnostic light flashing 12 times then pausing means, I need the above information.

I looked up the parts available for the unit,

    http://www.chamberlain-diy.com/doityours...

They seem to only have a motor unit and belt drive parts for this model. They do not have a main circuit board available which tells me that if this part is bad, then it's not repairable.

I did find a 1-800 number you can call regarding this problem in the FAQs::

The receiver logic assembly is not listed in the parts available for purchase for your model garage door opener. I checked.

Door opens itselv after closing

most likely the down stop is set to low, the door hits ground and reverses. so either change the down stop position or increase the down force so it will not reverse upon contact.

My Craftsman 1/2 Hp garage door opener doesn't stop going down despite (quite forcefully!) applying pressure in the opposite direction. It would buckle (and did) if I don't let it continue unhindered...do...

YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN FORCE.

YOU WANT TO TURN IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO THE STOP (THIS ADJUSTMENT IS ONLY ABOUT 3/4 TURN FROM MIN. TO MAX.). THEN TRY THE DOOR IF IT REVERSES TURN IT ABOUT 1/16TH TURN CLOCKWISE. CONTINUE THIS VERY MINOR INCRAMENT ADJUSTMENT UNTIL THE DOOR CLOSES WITHOUT REVERSING. THEN GO 1/16TH TURN FURTHER.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THE DOOR AND REVERSE IT BY GRABBING THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR AS IT GOES DOWN AND LIFTING SLIGHTLY. IF YOU CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO BOTH CLOSE AND REVERSE WITH MODERATE PRESSURE YOU MAY NEED ADJUSTMENT TO THE DOOR / SPRING / ETC.
- I DO NOT RECOMMEND ADJUSTING THE DOOR YOURSELF - CALL IN A PRO FOR THAT.

IF THE ADJUSTMENT IS SUCCESFUL ADJUST THE OPEN SENSITIVITY / FORCE IN THE SAME MANNER.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Liftmaster tries to close instead of open door

Remove the chain from the sprocket and then run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With the door in the closed position and everything attached to it, replace the chain and tighten. This will get everything back into sync. You will most likely have to tweak the up and down limits a bit. Do not over tighten the chain. It should sag just a little.

Garage door opener closes when closed

Try this: Loosen the chain enough that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor. Now run the opener until the sprocket turns in the clockwise direction and stops. Reconnect the chain. This will get everything in sync and you will have to tweak the 'up and down limits' a bit to get it just right.

The power sliding door opens but will not close. If you try to close it manually; upon partially closing, the door motor kicks in and wants to open it again. Thus it requires a lot of manual force to close...

Spray the rollers and pathway with WD-40. This lubricates the door rollers and also cleans the rollers and pathway which the rollers travel back and forth. The door upon any resistance opens protecting the occupants from being hurt in the doorway. This worked on my 2003 Windstar.

Door opens after closing

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem but if the door is hitting the floor and reversing and the main light is not flashing then the door is closing too far and the safety thinks it has hit something. On the side of the motor unit you will find 2 controls. One of these is the 'down limit'. Turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover until the door closes but does not reverse.

Opener will not reverse

FIRST YOU NEED TO RESET THE CHAIN .

Unplug power
Release the door from the opener close the door manually. take the chain loose and slide the traveler down to reengage with the trolley. Plug in power, run the unit with chain off untill it completes a clockwise cycle and stops. reconnect the chain and set tension.

Adjust the chain tension.

If it still moves 6-8 inches and flashes 5 times. the problem is in the rpm sensor.
