Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a HP OfficejetL7780 All in One printer. There is a flashing yellow light saying the "following cartridge appears to be missing or damaged" YELLOW I have replace the yellow cartridge, checked to make sure the door is shut, turned the maching off and on several times and nothing seems to fix it. It won't print, and when I press "SET up" nothing happens. Don't know what else to do.

I tried the solution that you suggested three different times and nothing happens. The Yellow light is still flashing and on the panel it still reads the same "the following cartridge apears to be missing or damaged" YELLOW and then below that it says "refer to printer documentation". Don't know what else to try--any other ideas?

You tried to fix my problem with my HP All in one L7780 printer but it did not work. I paid $18.00 for the information and it did not work---why does it take so long to get back to me again when I said it did not work--been over four hours now.

I cannot get the arrows to work at all. Just the yellow light keeps going on and off.

I took all the cartridges out like you said and put them back in. Don't understand how to clean drums etc.. Maybe when I tried to print, there are things that are stacked up --dont know how to remove those.

Have tried to go to My Desktop, or My computer or Contral Panel to see if that is hold ing it up.

Think I need a repair guy in the St. Louis area who might come over and fix this for me. What do you think? I am not much a fixing computers, printers, etc. Just want it to work.

It may be something from a setting or so ...try for first this action ..:
Performing a partial reset

  1. Unplug the power cord from the HP All-in-One.
  2. Wait for 20 seconds.
  3. Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the HP All-in-One.
  4. Release the buttons after the HP All-in-One starts up.
  5. The HP All-in-One will now be reset to factory defaults.

I unlocked the problem for other opinions..but the issue it is on the drum have to remove the cartridges and put them back ..then from the service mode(open the front door) ..than in the menu for the service try to look for the toner counter and reset it ..navigate with the arrows..if you have another cartridge for yellow change it if you didnt done it already ..cause it might be damaged..
sorry that I answered so late but it was a problem with the communication ..I just got the mail now..

if there are things like paper or other stuck in ..this may be the cause that the printer is on the error ..and nothing work s...try to press the reset button and see if you can pul out the paper during the reset button being pressed..or keep the power button pressed if you do not have a reset one ..(i am referring on reset job ..not printer the standard for removing paper..)
and if it is not from the cartridges inserted in a wrong way ..and not from resetting the general settings ..the you should have someone cause it is probably stuck or worse ..the drum is malfunctioning and this is the reason why it do not see the cartridge ..
But ..from what you say ..and cause other functions like the arrows and menu can not be accessed may be something inserted in a wrong way when you changed the cartridge ..either the drum is not in the right position ..cause if it was just the malfunction of the cartridge should work all other function fact it should print without that color..

Hi, do note that even if you are printing in black, the printer requires that you have installed functioning cyan (blueish), magenta (reddish) and yellow cartridges as well.

Ink cartridge problem! The following ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged.

Solution :
1. clean the ink cartridge contacts both in the printer and the cartridge with a lint free cloth or a cotton swab. and try inserting the ink cartridges again. if it wont work proceed to step 2.
2. unplug the power cord at the back of the printer
3. press and hold # and 3 keys at the same time and plug the power cord back in. Do not release the two keys. wait until the printer would say "partial nvram reset" or anything that says "reset". if this still would not resolve the problem
4. do the same process as 2 & 3 but instead of # and 3 try # and 6. instead of saying "partial nvram reset" it should say "semi-full nvram reset". and if it would not work better go to an onsite technician. but if your printer if brand new return it to the retailer and exchange it. but before you do that try calling HP technician they would instruct you to the things i have given you. Just tell them what you have had done and asked them to replace the ink cartridges. This are the informations the agent would ask you about the ink cartridge
part number and also the expiration date.
try to ask for a replacement first if it would not resolve it. then go to a technician. I could not assure you that a technician could fix it because i have troubleshoot this kind of problems and there are alot of printer parts that needs to be fixed. Usually i suggest my clients to buy a new printer instead
