Question about Maytag 24" Built-In Dishwasher - White

Open Question

Water won't stop filling, even when the door is opened. I cleaned the float valve at the front , that worked for a few washings. Or it may be a random occurrence. This dishwasher was purchased in 1993 in Canada, and has always worked well. We do have well water, but it isn't real hard, I put vinegar in about nearly every rinse cycle.

SOURCE: dishwasher wont clean!!!!!!

The arms and wash are controlled by the pump pressure created by the impeller. It's possible that the impeller may be damaged. To inspect youll have to remove the wash arm, the gaurd and the pump cover. Ive included a parts break down.

SOURCE: dishwasher doesnt drain on wash cycle,ok on rinse cycle

Change the circuit board, timer/progrsmer.
Take it out and clean contacts,
Look for burnt circuit line and solder a fine bead carefully on the circuit board, difficult. Use the pot and pan program.

SOURCE: Leaking from the lower right hand side during rinse cycle.

I had the problem with dribbles of water from the right side lower edge of the door, causing puddles across the floor.
Found there was a RECALL on MDB6000AWW models. The door inside panel was replaced by the dealer for free. No more puddles.

Sorry to hear about your problem. If a butter dish does not clean I expect little or no flow from either wash arms.

Need to check the water level after the fill cycle. Open the door after 90 seconds after starting the machine. The water should be about two inches deep.

For testing a small amount of water can be added by hand into the bottom of the wash tub to confirm that the wash problem is no or low water. Add water and continue cycle to determine if that is the root cause.

No or low water check the overfill float switch in the front bottom of the machine. It can get stuck in the up position. The float in the at rest position(down) operates a switch that allows the fill solenoid to actuate.

Second culprit for low water is the stop valve at the sink connection. The valve has a rubber seat that has known to come lose and plug the fill line to the dishwasher. This is a common failure of the valve. If so repair valve (repair of the valve does not require removal of the valve it can be done in place).

If Stop valve is OK and dishwasher is not filling check the water fill valve in the dishwasher. Also a common failure. It is located behind the lower front cover and requires someone who is qualified to service. A replacement would be specific to your machine because of calibrated flow rates. Low water could be an indication that the screen in line at the valve is plugged.

If water level is OK than I would check for plugged water filter screen or pump inlet.

Good Luck

My dish washer wont fill with water

there is a float, usually at front left side inside dishwasher, that may be stuck..possibly an utility holding it up, or the fill valve is stuck. When dishwasher calls for water, it fills until this float rises to proper level and shuts the valve off at proper level. If it sticks, water will shut off at improper level.

Dishwasher won't fill with water

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Model: Frigidaire GPDB998JC0 It fills and drains

Check your water level to see if the water valve is even filling up properly. After starting the cycle, listen when the water fillup begins and ends. Open door and see if there is enough water at the bottom. Should fill up to the float valve. If there is not enough water, the valve needs to be replaced. Costs about $25 and can be replaced diy if you are handy with pushing back the hose clamp and undoing and redoing the water line connection.
Make sure you unplug the electric, and shut off the water before you even want to look behind the toe plate. Dishwashers have high electric hazard behind the toe plate..

Larry,
The float is generally for overflow conditions and will interrupt power to the fill valve solenoid.
If you are not filling completely in the time allowed by the timer, it is most likely a flow restriction in the water supply. Barring other obvious restrictions, the fill valve has filter screens on the inlet side of the fill valve, which is generally the cause of your symptoms. Be careful if you attempt to clean the screens, as the fill valves are very sensitive to debris, and can become stuck open if sediment gets past the screen. I usually replace the fill valve to avoid future problems.
Hope this helps.

Dishwasher doesn't fill

Dishwasher Doesn't Fill If a dishwasher runs but doesn't fill, either something is wrong with its water supply system or it is draining water too soon. 1) First make sure the water is turned on. Check the hot water supply stop valve, normally located under the sink. Open it all the way by turning it counterclockwise. If there is no reason this would have been turned off since the last time the dishwasher worked, go on to the next step. 2) Turn off the power to the dishwasher. 3) When the dishwasher is cool, look for the float inside the dishwasher --usually a small plastic dome or cylinder mounted inside at the tub's base, near the front. When you move most types of floats up and down, you can hear them click because they trip a lever (they are spring loaded). Lift out the float mechanism and clean around the float tube; many floats must be disconnected from below--to do this you'll have to remove the lower access panel. Rinse off the float, then replace it in the tube and be sure it moves up and down freely. 4) If you're experienced with minor repair work shut off the hot water valve to the appliance. Locate the water intake valve, behind the dishwasher's bottom front panel, disassemble the valve to reveal the screen, clean debris from the screen, and reassemble. If the screen doesn't appear to be blocked, call a repairperson (they will probably need to replace the water intake valve). 5) If none of this helps, call a repairperson. Any of several parts, including water inlet valve, pressure switch, and the timer or selector switch, may be faulty.
