SOURCE: Remote Doesn't Work for TV, but Works for TV

You might have lost the code from the remote which identifies the tv to your remote. If you have the manual that came with the remote you might try entering the code again. ( reprogram the remote). Stargazer

SOURCE: Set up

Seems that Hitachi DESIGNED the sound to cut off from the Audio Out jacks if you use component video or HDMI inputs. Has to do with copyright laws of the HD Video -- which makes it asinine that they disabled the audio as well, as it's not part of the copyright issue. Seems to me they were just lazy to disable the ENTIRE set of output jacks.

I am hoping to find some sort of hack for this (either firmware or severing/splicing a control wire). However, I can't find much information on this yet.

SOURCE: Hitachi 42" plasma TV (42PD6600)

My plasma TV seems to have problems with picture immediately after turning on. At about two weeks ago, the TV lost picture after turning on the TV. It was corrected by disconnecting power then reconnecting. A switch on rear left hand side would click bringing picture ON, somehow this clicking seems to have problems being energized lately not allowing picture to come on the TV. Checked power cable and was getting 120 Volts to TV, nonetheless problem has gotten worst and TV does not show a picture? Your thoughts on my problem?

SOURCE: remote code

Hello steeler,
I am David thank you for choosing FixYa.com for your answer.

I went to the comcast site and found the numers you have there is another way to try also here it is

Searching for a code If your home entertainment device does not respond to the remote control after trying all of the codes listed for your brand, or if your brand is not listed at all, try searching for your code.
Example: You've tried all the codes for your TV, but you still cannot get the remote control to operate your TV.

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On the remote control, press TV once.
  3. Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice, then release the SETUP key.
  4. Using the number pad, enter 9-9-1. The TV key will blink twice.
  5. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly alternate between pressing Power and TV. Stop when the TV turns off after pressing the POWER key. This means that a working code has been found.
  6. Press the SETUP key once to lock in the code. The TV key will blink twice.
I hope this helps you with your tv Thank you again for using FixYa.com
feel free to rate me on my answer thank you again.

The sound does not come on when first turned on. I have to turn the unit off-on several times before the sound works. I utilize compast for tv access.

Try using a different input. For example, if you are using an hdmi input, try using a component input instead (Its still HD) A sure way to test this is as such. Remove all cables from the Comcast box to the tv. Now, run your coax from comcast into the back of the comcast box. It will say something like "In from antenna" or "cable in." Now run a regular coax cable out of the box, into your tv. This will be labeled as "out to tv or vcr." Now put your tv on channel 4. If the sound is ok, then you know its a problem with your input on your tv. If you still have the issue, it is probably the Settop Box from Comcast. Please note, this is just to test the tv. This cable will not support HD television feeds. Hope this helps.

Hitachi ultravision model number 42hds69 cable problem.

Usually you need a decoder to receive "Cable" With your "Cable" usually you connect the Cable antenna, to the Cable "Box" form the "Box" to the Audio Visual EXTERNAL inputs, in the back of the TV. Now IF your TV can receive the "Cable" directly, then you would have to connect the Antenna, into the rear of the TV, now you would go to the "Tuning" section, and, the TV, would automatically "Search" for any available channels. They would then, be displayed at the end of the scan. Please find a user manual below, this will help you tune in, IF you can. If you cannot, you will have to get a cab;e "Box" and a remote. Hookup to the TV, from the "Box" to the TV, via, Audio and Video cables. You use the "Box's" remote to change channels and volume. You first must set the TV's Volume, & picture setting, the TV, is basically just used as a "Monitor" for the "Box". Hope this helps..

I'm trying to hook up my reciever up to my new flat screen any help as far as what cables I need, I will also be putting a dvd player on as well. I have comcast cable also, I've been told I need to get a...

This is posted under the Sony STR-DE685 heading, so I assume that's what you have. (If not, your receiver may have other hookup options available.) It might help if you download the manual if you need a copy from Sony's site here. It details all the rear panel connections.

This receiver doesn't have HDMI connections, so you'll need to make your connections using RCA cables It doesn't pay you to get an HD cable box if you're planning on connecting it through the receiver.

Output to the TV is very simple. Use a component video cable to go from the component monitor output on the receiver to the TV's component input. Then switch the TV to that input, turn off its speakers and listen to the sound through the receiver. Only one cable going to the TV that way.

Inputs will need separate audio and video connections since there are no HDMI connectors. Use the component video connection for your DVD player for the best video quality. The DVD/LD input offers those jacks. You can connect your cable box to the VIDEO 2 input using component video connections (if the box has those outputs) or composite video. Then the video and audio from the box will run through the receiver as well.

If you want to get a new HD cable box, you'll need to run a cable from its HDMI output to an input on the TV, and switch the TV to that input to watch the box. You can still run the audio signal through the receiver though. That will add one more cable to your hookup, and you'll have to remember to switch inputs.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

How to connect tv to comcast cable box

If you only have the comcast receiver and a TV, take the input (wire from outside the house or outlet on wall) and screw that onto the input of the comcast receiver. Take another wire (or RCA, component connecters or whatever means the box and TV provides) and go from the output of comcast receiver to the input of the TV. Set the TV input mode (on the TV itself or by the remote) to whatever mode you hooked up the cables to (video 1, aux, video 2, etc) and you should see a picture. From there use the comcast remote to change channel. If you use the round cable (rg56 or rg59) you will not need any other connections between the TV and the box. The video and audio are broadcast on the same line. If you use RCA (yellow red white) connectors, yellow is video, white and red are audio) you will need all three wires from comcast receiver to TV. I hope this helps and good luck!

Motorola DCT 6200/1000 seems to only have one audio output?

There are three options:

1) Connect the Tivo using the coax output of the cable box into the cable input of the Tivo

2) Exchange cable boxes with your cable provider for one with composite output jacks. It may require you to use a Motorola box that isn't High def depending on what your provider has. I know Comcast has a Motorola HD tuner that has composite outputs as well as component.

3) Upgrade to a Series 3 Tivo. Those units are designed for High Def. Use HDMI cable hookup.

How to Hook up HDMI from Comcast Motarola Cable Box

Connect the HDMI outputs on your various components to the HDMI inputs on your receiver. Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the input on your TV. HDMI incorporates digital audio, so no need to buy optical audio cables. If your receiver does not have HDMI inputs for all your components, you will need to make a choice. HDMI = Best, component video + optical audio = second best, S-video+ optical audio = third best

Turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.
