Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console
Ok, what you have done is not connected one of the screens up properly. Whichever screen flashes it is the opposite one that is not connected properly. Make sure that the ribbon cables are inserted far enough into thier connectors.
When you have doubly made sure of this you should have a fully working DS.
