In the gas tank is a filter. you can use a clothes hanger to fish it out, remove it blow it it out backwards with air . or replace it. if this don;t work buy new fuel lines ,carb kit, carb cleaner spray(parts master #1736 my fav) and a new spark plug. when doing the carb just replace gaskets and diaphragm .. don't worry about all the other stuff in the kit, you are just washing the carb to get gunk or dust out of it .. all back together and wa la.. ning ning niiing.. back in biz.. one other thing that goes bad is the crank shaft seal( the 1 next to the clutch) and it can be a pain to replace ! vote if'n i was of help.. remember BUY USA MADE PRODUCTS.. Have a mac 3516 35cc the carberator is way out of adjustment where do i set idle and gas adjustment screws at

I have always found that a good place to start was to close both completly shut then open 1 1/2 turns. On idle adjust to where it will idle good and chain is not moving. At run speed adjust slowly to where it runs the smoothest at max R.P.M.s. Hope this helps.Thank you.

I have a 35cc 14in chain saw. It runs intermittenly. While running it's fine, but then stops and is difficult to restart

Check the air filter for debris, and clean it. If the saw has been stored with fuel in it, the carberator may be gummed from old gas. You can try some carberator cleaner spray , or the carb may need to be dissassembled and further cleaned out.

I have a Mcculloch 16in maccat 35cc chain saw

Does the chain turn freely by hand? Is it being oiled properly? Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Does 'feathering' the choke make any difference? If it helps, try turning the H jet needle CCW about 1/4 turn which should make it run more rich and 4-stroke until you are cutting which should immediately cause the engine to 2-stroke. Hope some of this helps!

HOW TO MEASURE CHAIN LENGTH ON SAW

It usually is on the bar. Or in the model number (MCC1635AK) typically means 16" chain, 35cc engine. Taking the chain off and while still in a loop, stretch it out and you will find a 16" should be about 18-19" long.

Where can I get a free online service manuel for this chain saw Model CS38EM. The chain got jammed and I've stripped it but now problem to reassembled it in original order.

I thought it was electric. Now I think it is a MTD McCulloch. A McCulloch example of model number "21-600038-76" follows (may not be your saw):
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/MCC/21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01/139.21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01.1.59.1.html

A less detailed IPL that includes other 600038 models follows: Page 1 is illustrated, does it look like your saw?
McCulloch MTD
Chainsaws 32cc-35cc-38cc Anti-Vibe

This explains construction of an IPL number, MTD and Husqvarna models often deviate from the explanation.

Need to view gas line hook up. On mac3515 chainsaw

No 3515(35cc,15"bar)s a 3516 is provided.
A McCulloch Mac 3516 model model 21-600035-59. (may not be your saw):
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/MCC/21-600035-59-Mac-3516-IPL-211318-01/139.21-600035-59-Mac-3516-IPL-211318-01.1.59.1.html
The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best; components are listed but may be on different illustrations.

If the above is not your saw, yours can be located here:
McCulloch IPLs
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/McCulloch/139.59.html

A typical fuel system and a couple of tips follow:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3706813-2_cycle_fuel_system_repair
If properly plumbed your saw will run with the carburetor to primer hose capped off.
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH
