Check the air filter for debris, and clean it. If the saw has been stored with fuel in it, the carberator may be gummed from old gas. You can try some carberator cleaner spray , or the carb may need to be dissassembled and further cleaned out.

Have a mac 3516 35cc the carberator is way out of adjustment where do i set idle and gas adjustment screws at

I have always found that a good place to start was to close both completly shut then open 1 1/2 turns. On idle adjust to where it will idle good and chain is not moving. At run speed adjust slowly to where it runs the smoothest at max R.P.M.s. Hope this helps.Thank you.

I have a McCulloch 35cc 14in chain saw. It has given good service but now runs intermittently. When it stops it is hard to restart.

in the gas tank is a filter. you can use a clothes hanger to fish it out, remove it blow it it out backwards with air . or replace it. if this don;t work buy new fuel lines ,carb kit, carb cleaner spray(parts master #1736 my fav) and a new spark plug. when doing the carb just replace gaskets and diaphragm .. don't worry about all the other stuff in the kit, you are just washing the carb to get gunk or dust out of it .. all back together and wa la.. ning ning niiing.. back in biz.. one other thing that goes bad is the crank shaft seal( the 1 next to the clutch) and it can be a pain to replace ! vote if'n i was of help.. remember BUY USA MADE PRODUCTS.. I have a Mcculloch 16in maccat 35cc chain saw

Does the chain turn freely by hand? Is it being oiled properly? Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Does 'feathering' the choke make any difference? If it helps, try turning the H jet needle CCW about 1/4 turn which should make it run more rich and 4-stroke until you are cutting which should immediately cause the engine to 2-stroke. Hope some of this helps!

Chain saw chain stopped moving

Was it running and shut down and was froze or when you went to restart it was frozen? Two things I have seen cause this other than a seized engine. One - chain bound up. Remove side cover and inspect chain mechanism. Two- the pull cord is bound up. Remove the pull cord cover and inspect.

I have a McCullough 3214 chain saw about 15 yrs old. Has started leaking bar chain oil...apparently oil is not getting to bar. Can this be fixed by just removing the bar and cleaning or should I expect a...

Very good advice from Drallim - it usually is. One more thought if the saw has separate "Guide Bar Plates", they can be installed incorrectly and cause this. I know because I have done it.

At first glance they appear the same, they are not. 430892 has a slot cut that aligns with the oil slot of the saw case. 430893 has no oil slot and fits against the clutch cover. There are some extra parts shown, please ignore these.

An IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw can be found here. I find them invaluable for assembly/dissemble.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.
