I have a problem with my matshita dvd-writer, it doesn`t work to make any cd or dvd, when i introduce an empty cd it read it, it read also any cd/dvd`s with any data. When i try to write a cd or a dvd (i`m using nero or windows program) appear this problem "Power calibration error" in nero program. I have an Asus K52J series, and the operating sistem is windows 7 64 bit.

The unit is dying, the laser is no longer capable of delivering the necessary power to write. Time for a new one.

CD/DVD RIVE NOT WORKING

This is a problem with several answers, however; for the most part, consider the Media that is inserted into the drive. If it is a COPY for example, the copy made on another computer may not line up correctly. The CD/DVD has magnetic lines that are true, very much like a phonograph record. If they do not line up correctly, they will not Read or Write. The other problem can be the Laser Head. If the reading head is misaligned, it too will have a problem reading data. The best way to get around the problem is to transfer the data from the CD/DVD media to a USB Flash drive, and go that route, or get an external USB CD/DVD for about 30 bucks at Wal Mart.

I can not be abel to read writed CD

These discs that are written on other systems, were they finalized or are they multi-sessions discs that have been left open? Some drives have difficulty dealing with multi-session discs created by other drives. By telling it it is OK to format the CD, it is writing a new TOC (Table of Contents) that is blank since it did not see anything on the disc previously (so it didn't know there was anything to carry over from previous sessions). Now all other drives that try to read this disc are now reading an empty TOC and figure it is a blank CD.

You can try writing a disc on another computer and making sure it finalizes it, then try reading it with your laptop. You can also try to burn data to a CD on your laptop making sure the disc is finalized and try to read it on another computer to verify these suspicions.
