The short version: Will a 14-year-old TV work with digital-to-analog TV converter? Specifically, I have RCA Model G25342AT, built in Sept., 1994. In case yes, converter should work... Trying to connect...

The converter box should work. Getting the remote to work with the TV might be a challenge. You might have to stick with two remotes. It used to be in the old days you could plug your tv power into the remote that way you would turn the tv on with the tuner remote but I be they stop doing that.

There is website that will let you check the digital televison signals for your area. This site should help you:

I recently bought a converter box DTA800 to go with my sony tv Triniton mod.KV-20FV300. It doesn't seem to work; programing, set-up. Please advise.

Ah, the problem is likely your antenna. Make sure everything is properly hooked up, and that your TV is on and turned to either channel 3 or 4 (whichever the unit requires, or you can try both and see which works) then turn the converter on, and check the manual that came with it for a way to check for your antenna's signal strength.

If your signal is good, then use the menu button on the remote and look for an "autoscan" feature, or "autoprogramming", something along those lines, and let the unit look for channels for you (mine requires this before you can use it, not that it matters because my antenna signal is weak). From there you can access the channels manually.

Hope this helps.

The instructions for our DTA800 digital to analog converter box for over the air waves for TV signals say since the signal is too weak that we need a SMART ANTENNA. What is that and what do you...

Hey boykinpierce,

The phrase "Smart Antenna" is often used to describe a multi-directional antenna or antenna array. These types of antennas are able to detect and automatically adjust to any changes in the TV signal strength you receive, and can generally be obtained through most major retailers. They primarily are used in areas where digital signals are weaker or somewhat inconsistent, and will attempt to optimize the signals they do receive before sending them to a TV or digital converter box.

Please keep in mind that while some DTV digital-to-analog converter boxes may have built-in Smart Antennas, this particular model (RCA DTA800) does not appear to have this feature.

If you're still not quite sure what to look for, please remember that you can always speak with a home theatre sales agent at your local Best Buy™ store for more information.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

1992 LXI TV AND THE CHANGE TO DIGITAL

You should be fine. Direct TV advertises that they are already broadcasting in full digital. So your box or DVR will act as that converter.
