Open the hood, bag #20-50557 , the cardboard part goes in the bag holder, will only fit in one direction, then close the hood.

Changing bag

The cloth bag can be soaked in warm water with a mild soap solution. Rinse well and let it hang to air dry. We usually let it hang all day in the sun when we can.

I have a conquest, the latches broke that secure the dust cup. I bought replacements, but for the life of me can not figure out how to change them out. please help!

I don't know if I can help you or not. It would help if I could see the parts in person.....

I studied the schematics for this part. It looks as if the end that fits into the cup support has tabs sticking out the sides. Is that correct?
If it does, look for small, slim holes in the support that they should slip into. You probably will have to bend or bow that part a bit to get it to snap in.

This is just a guess. I hope it helps, if not please write back. Also, here is Hoover's customer support number: 1.800.944.9200
Thanks,

Dust bag was full and have changed it but not getting proper suction since bag change - why?

The extension tube is probably blocked. Check for suction with all the tubes off - if there is suction now then the tubes are blocked - be carefull not to damage them if you poke things in the unblock them.

3 lights show up on the top of my vacuum and the center one I don't know what it stands for. Plus, the vacuum seems to be getting too hot.

The one that looks like a cord plug lights up when the vacuum is plugged in and indicates it's getting power.
The one that looks like a thermometer lights up when the vacuum is overheating, and indicates there's probably a clog in the hose or power nozzle behind the brush.
The next one indicates there is no bag in the vacuum. Machine will not run.
The last one indicates the bag is full and needs to be changed. A full bag or clogged pores will result in overheating, however the vacuum automatically turns off when this happens to protect the motor.
It sounds like you need to replace the bag. If you still have problems, it's probably due to an internal part called a control valve assembly. That is an in shop repair, and the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for service. This is most often due to "made to fit" bags being used instead of "genuine" bags. In this case the motor and interior of the machine need to be cleaned as well. Dirt, even fine dust, in the motor will shorten the life of the motor dramatically.

The check bag light comes on and vaccum quits but bag is not full. We changed bang anyway but vaccum would not start.

This is most probably due to a worn out or clogged Control Valve Assembly.
Detach the hose and see if it runs. If it does, place hand over hole. If it shuts off, CVA is probably the cause. A clogged CVA is generally due to using generic/made-to-fit bags. Genuine bags have "Home Solutions" printed on them.
You can try turning the dial all the way to the large dot, then try to run the vacuum.
If it is the CVA, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have their service tech repair or replace the part. I recommend a service and clean of the vacuum at the same time. This will extend the life of the vacuum.

Hello,

If the vacuum sounds like it usually does and still doesn’t pick up, you probably need to replace the belt. To check this, turn the vacuum on and lay it down sideways. Check to see if the roller is spinning. If it's spinning, turn the vacuum off. Stand it up and turn it back on. Do you hear the roller spinning. Some belts stretch over time. If the roller was spinning when the vacuum was on it’s side and stops when the roller has some pressure on it (your carpet), change the belt.
A clogged vacuum cleaner usually sounds "clogged". The noise the vacuum normally makes will seem muffled. First, Unplug Your Vacuum. Then change the vacuum bag or empty the dirt cup. If the bag is filled up more than halfway, this could reduce your suction. Throw out the bag. Look at the area that holds the dirt cup or vacuum bag. Remove any debris. Look for a filter in this area. If you find a filter make sure it's relatively clean. A clogged filter will shorten the life span of your vacuum. Make sure your filter is back in place or replaced, and reinstall the vacuum bag or dirt cup.
A lot of the current style upright vacuum cleaners have attachments and a hose on board. If you have a vacuum hose on your upright, pull it out like your going to vacuum with it. Look at the area you removed the hose from. Remove any debris. I recommend wearing gloves, and try not to use any sharp tools like a needle nose pliers that might puncture your vacuum hose.
For the final step in this vacuum cleaner repair, place the vacuum in a position where you have a birds eye view of the bottom plate. You can usually see if there is any debris that requires removal.
Here is a link that will take you to a site that shows how to access your machine to change belt or look for clogs.

Hope this helps

My NuTone built in central vacuum is putting dirt out instead of picking it up. We have just changed the bag.

From the information here, it sounds like you do not have any suction. If this happened at the same time you replaced the bag, I'm guessing that the unit did not seal when you put it back together. Make sure the bag is seated like it should be and the cover that you removed to replace the bag is sealed and locked into place. An easy way to check this would be to remove the inlet side tubing from the machine and check the suction there. If the unit has a utility valve, be sure that it is closed. You should have good suction there unless the bag cover part of the canister is not sealing onto the rest of the unit, or the fan assembly is damaged. The latter of which is pretty rare, and it would probably make a good bit of noise. If you have good suction at the unit, then you either have a clog or an open pipe somewhere. I hope this helps. Please comment with more details if it doesn't. Good Luck!

Sharp Twin Energy EC-T2840 - no suction

Unfortunately, this probably means that your motor is burned out, since the headlight is on the same circuit as the motor.
You can take it in for service, but replacement of a motor in a twin energy will probably be more money than it's worth, and that's assuming that the motor is available.
It's still worth taking in though, most places will give you free estimates, and repair techs are the best people to ask about new vacuums if yours is unsalvageable.

Best of luck,

-R
