Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

Continuous freezing Hi, My Satellite A105 has been freezing off- and on over the past two days. I haven't noticed any major trends, as it has frozen when I had internet explorer up and other times, while loading. Ctrl+alt+del doesn't work in all of these instances so I have to manually turn off and turn back on. I thought that it might be overheating but it doesn't seem to be warmer than usual. Not sure how I should proceed. Help?

Firstly run a memory test. Memtest is one of the good ones around and is free to boot. You can download it HERE

Next check your anti virus is up to date and there are no virii on your system. Some will lock down your computer, but it's rare. They are more effective if the computer remains online so they can achieve whatever it they want.

Heat could be the problem. It dosnt mean it has to be your CPU over heating, it could just as easily be your video card. Check Toshiba's website and see if they have a temperature monitor for your laptop. Most have them these days as a small program that runs in the background.

See what the memtest reports back and post back the results.

Toshiba Satellite A105-S4048 problem with AC Adapter When I turn the laptop on with the AC adapter, after checking the BIOS freezes and does not boot Windows. If I turn the laptop in only with battery boot...


There's not much you can do. The problem is definately with your motherboard. I'd recommend a bios update, but normally you can ONLY run a bios update if the battery and the ac are both plugged in.

This problem is pretty common among Toshiba's A105 and P105 models.

Besides replacing the motherboard there's not much you can do.

My Toshiba Satellite A105 freezes at logon screen. The computer was running fine with NO problems what so ever prior to this even. I run frequent virus scans, my computer stays up to date. Any advice?


Hi, I recommend to you to reinstall the operating system with the disc of recovery that accompanies your equipment, it is possible that the this corrupt operating system and because of it the machine freezes.

Freezing up


I think you need to do a power cycle. remove the battery and use tha AC adapter alone. If it boots, then thats good. U can try also booting on safe mode by pressing F8. Then re start the notebook in normal mode. If it wont works then i think u need to reinstall windows as a last resort. U need to use TOSHIBA RECOVERY DISK this time.
