Please follow these steps to get the problem fixed:

Please plug a keyboard with the computer, there might be trouble using the wireless keyboard.

ince you have plugged in the keyboard,
turn off the computer and turn it back on and then go into bios (system setup) you will get a prompt it is generally done by pressing delete key.

Once you are in the bios go to boot device under boot device please disable the floopy drive. make sure that the internal hdd is enabled and is at the top.

you can also turn off Turn off USB emulation in the BIOS.

after that you must save the changes and then exit it. This must help to resolve the problem.

IF nothing is working you will habe to reset the jumpers on the motherboard. Jumpers is located on the motherboard it has three pins lets say 1,2 and 3 it is placed in 1 and 2 , when u place it in 2 and 3 it resets the bios to default that should help. Try this step only if you can open the system and confident about it else counsult a local techician.

Before you do that also try to reseat the memory (RAM).

First off have you tried entering the bios and making sure it is booting to the correct device this may solve your problem. Also I would try a wired keyboard as this could be your problem as well, once you get into windows then go back to using the wireless. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

How to format/install SATA 2TB hard drive (BARRACUDA) in Gateway GT5098E, Win XP Media Center Edition 2005?

Windows XP doesn't support SATA. You will need to use a program such as Nlite to integrate sata drivers into a new Windows XP disc. Once you have a disc with sata drivers just boot to the disc and follow the prompts to format the drive.

did you compress your c drive? sounds like you have, I think you may need to do a re-install.
One thing that may work, would be to install the drive in qustion as a second drive on another machine and you may be able to uncheck the compress disk contents box that way.

I have a gateway gt4015e. When I turn the power on the screen does nothing just stays black. This is a windows media center 2005 machine. Please help

Make sure the computer and the monitor both have power going to them and that they are both on.
Make sure that the cable from the computer to the monitor is connected firmly. You have to determine if you are using a video card or on board video (video built into the motherboard). If you have two ports to plug into on the back of the pc make sure you are plugged into the right one. Try to use the monitor on another computer or a different monitor on that computer to see if you can isolate it to one or the other.Could be a bad cable, video card,or monitor. You should try to test the devices to narrow it down.

Hi There,

Windows Media Center Edition is exactly that; an "Edition" of XP Pro. If you go to My Computer and then click on System Properties, you will likely be comforted to see that you indeed have Windows Media Center Edition 2005.

90% of the time windows says it islogging off but computer never shuts down and 70% of the time dvd will not power up dell dimension pentium(r) 4CPU 3.4GHz, 2GB RAM WINDOWS XP media ctr edition

As it appears it is a driver and system problem, your system or/and Driver files may have become corrupted and need a good refresh. Several ways to do this via this link alone: -

Go to http://www.techsupportalert.com/pc/cleanup-tools.html

and select what you feel is appropriate and also comfortable with to use.

Do a virus and malware scan while you are at it just for good measure.

Next, try Sytem Restore from a much earlier time.

If this fails, you may need to do a system restore using your original XPMCE disks. Do a full system backup first.

Don't forget to save your msg, eml and other hard drive emails to a folder as these will be deleted. Other programs and system files may need to be updated again too.
