Is the poping sound coming from the outlet when you plug the unit, or in the unit where the poping sounds comes,..

i recommend first to check you electrical outlet the electrical wire, it is possible that you are experiencing low supply of electric on the the unit and maybe resulting into a power surge.

check first all electrical components.

From the symptoms you describe, it seems the high voltage flyback autotransformer has failed along with the horizontal amplifier (they are slaved to each other). This could have happened during the moving process. The sound comes from the flyback unit..

Well, the only way to solve this is to get a technician take a look at the set, I'm afraid. Repairs could cost upto $100 or more (including labour), depending upon the number of components that need to be replaced,

It may be worth getting fixed up. If you decide to do so, call around, as shops have different rates and different expertise. Many shops are hurting for work because so many of the smaller sets are never repaired anymore; they are just thrown out and replaced since the cost of a new set is sometimes as low as the repair expense.

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

It seems like a component level issue..
reseting it probably doesnt solve the problem

There is a problem either in the mainboard or in the powerboard of the tv. I would have a professional do the job unless you have experience in this field?

Have you done any check up on the unit..? try to look at the power supply area & look for some busted fuse and broke resistor.

Thank you

Several failures can cause a red picture but it sounds like if you are connected from the source with component video cables(red, blue, green)you may just have a bad cable, but you may have had a blue and/ or green projection gun failure, which would cause the red gun to over power the other colors(blue/green), if this is the case definently not worth the cost to repair, you have to replace all three guns at the same time costing $500+ to repair, invest that towards a nice new LCD panel TV. Good luck !

TV has sound but no picture

It is possible one of the internal fuses blew out.
It could be a bad horizontal outut transistor.
It could be a bad secondary of the power supply went bad
And many other things.
If it's just a fuse, it won't cost much, but a lot of them do not look like you would expect a fuse to look like.It might be a little yellow, green, or gray rectangualar box shaped part. :D

I have an akai 27 lcd tv which shut down while watching. No sound no picture but the power switch is flashing red.I don;t know if it is a power supply problem or a burnt out backlight.I haven't opened the...

I would suggest to start by measuring the voltages from the power supply to the main/back light circuitry. If the voltages are low or jumping up and down, that means a defective power supply.
If the red light is blinking, the power supply has a shorted component.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
