I have an RCA D52W20 that I conntect to my PS3 with an HDMI/DVI Cable. The display is fine in 1080i. However, it crops off the sides of the screen (it does not do this in 480). How do I adjust the settings on the tv to pick up the remainder of the signal?

hello! Have you tried to toggle "format" or "screen size"? On those sets non HD and HD settings could be adjusted separately. Try that, first. If no luck, try similar settings on PS3. I bet, you will be able to match screen format there, as well. To me it looks, like picture formats are mismatched. Also: try to use "component" cables, instead of DVI adapter cable, if nothing works. good luck, Alex.
When this happens you can try the wide/picture format/view mode button on your television's remote control first. If your remote does not have one or if this does not correct the problem check the resolution on the cable box next. If your television displays 720p make sure the cable box is set for 720p, or 1080i if the television supports that resolution. First you have to make sure your tv in on the right input not the tv tuner input. Then use the hdzoom# button on the cable remote. If you have a satellite remote it might say format or aspect or you might have to go into the cable box/satellite receiver menu and choose 1080i crop or 1080i stretch to get the right picture size.
i have the same tv. there is only a dvi input with separate audio inputs.you will need a dvi to hdmi adaptor to connect for hi def.hdmi is video and audio while dvi is only video.you still get the picture quality, but have to run audio rca cables also.
IF YOU HAVE A DVI CONECTER A BIG WHITE PLUG WITH MANY CONNECTERS YOU CAN BUY A HDMI -DVI ADAPTER BESIDE THE DVI CONNECTER YOU WILL HAVE INDICATION FOR DVI AUDIO YOU MUST PASS TWO AUDIO CABLES FOR SOUND
This is normal my friend. A dvi port can't use audio even if it is using a hdmi cable. A easy fix is to connect your A/V cable into your ps3 and connect the red and white cables next to your dvi cable or connect it to your stereo. After that go into your setting, go to audio setting, click on audio output, and select A/V cable. it should work after that.
PS3 has output settings and would need to be adjusted if you are coming from the RCA input. Check out www.sony.com/ps3 trouble shooting under display problems. I believe the solution is to turn on the PS3 unit and keep holding the I/O button for more than 5 seconds. I had the same issue going the other way.
