Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Got a philips hts3357 some discs play some come up no disc

Hello,
unfortunately Philips DVD players are more precious/ selective on DVDs than the other brands..it is true especially with "Copied DVD"..normally an original DVD should not cause such problem..however if your DVD disc itself is not clean ( i.e.finger prints ) the reading LASER sometimes has problem to read it..
I recommend to buy a "wet DVD laser cleaner system" and clean your laser on DVD and your DVD discs as well..it is available any HI-FI store..

Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Hope this helps!

Hi there! I was using my hts3357 for 2 years with no problem. Now i have one: when i insert DVD/CD, it can list the files (divx) in it, but doesn't play. On the other hand, when i copy the "same" movies...

I would try a disc cleaner and using a can of compressed air. be careful not to let the device receive any of the actual propellant by using small bursts of air. otherwise if u hold the nozzle down to long u could do damage to the device other than good. sometimes the eye is strong enough or not dirty enough to read just the file portion but not good enough to read the movie portion. It can read the Usb part due to the reader using the microchip part in the player not the eye of the dvd player. A usb port and a optical drive work entirely independant. usually if it won't read it means it is either the eye dirty or the eye is not working anymore. independant electronic / tv repair shops can replace the eye for approx. $50.00. But if the cleaner doesn't help letting the player read the movies again. Then I would suggest taking it to a shop and having the eye replaced or just do a "tune up" on it.

I have a Philips home theatre HTS3010 which refuses to read a DVD anymore. It however happily reads CDs and VCDs.It displays NO DISC when a DVD is put in.Please Help

The DVD processing section is faulty. This is the main board of the DVD and it is not processing the RF from the optical head to convert the DVD signals.
I think you will need to source a new board unless Philips can check and replace the IC.

  • Disc not loaded. Load a disc into the player, close the door and press PLAY.
  • The disc used may be defective. The disc used may be defective, try another disc.
  • The disc is placed improperly in the tray. Make sure the disc is properly placed and centered in the tray and if the disc has a label on one side, make sure the label is facing up.
  • The disc is dirty. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc by wiping in a straight line from the center of the disc to the outside edge.
  • Use of DualDisc or Flip Disc which does not meet the Compact Disc Digital Audio Standard. Some music labels have recently introduced the DualDisc for pre-recorded audio and video content. The DualDisc bonds DVD content on one side 'back-to-back' with digital audio content on the other side. However, the digital audio side does not meet the technical specifications specified in the Compact Disc Digital Audio Standard. For this Reason, DualDisc is not permitted to carry the CD logo. Philips DVD and CD players and disc drives fully comply with the CD specifications and therefore may not recognize the DualDisc. Attempting to use DualDisc may lead to playback problems or jamming in the slot loader or drive.
The DVD video content on the DVD side of the DualDisc should play on Philips DVD players and DVD drives. However, Philips DVD players and drives do not support DVD Audio, and will not play any DVD Audio content present on the DVD side of a DualDisc. Philips will further investigate DualDisc and update this notice accordingly.
