Question about Televison & Video
This is typical for a failure in the power section. You may have noticed a buzz or even a strong electronic smell just before this started. Depending on the brand and model you should be able to see a led flashing in a sequence this will tell you what the tv thinks is wrong.
Unfortunately I don't think this is something you can fix at home so you will have to track down a repair shop or contact the authorized repair depot for the brand. If you can't find any tv repair shops in the phone book then you will have to go to the brands web site is www.sony.com and look for support and then contact numbers. They should list local repair shops or repair depots. If you can;t find it then call the support number and they will be able to tell you who to talk to locally. Now for the important part. If you are not covered by warrenty do not just get it repaired. You haven;t mentioned how old or big so I can only talk generally here. You want to get a repair estimate before authourzing any repairs. And you also want to know what a replacement tv is worth. The reason for this is some models will require boards to be replaced instead of just a few parts. Those parts and labour will come very close if not more than what the replacement tv is worth. If you were to build a tv out of repair parts it would cost 4-5 times what the tv sells for.
When you know what the repair cost (don't forget any shipping etc) comes to then you can decide if it is worth fixing or just replace it with a new tv. Thats also typical for any other electronics repair these days ie computers and so on so it really pays to check it out.
