SOURCE: Logitech Harmony universal remote stuck in safe mode

Just a message to all that have problems with there Logitec remotes. My remote went into something called a "safe mode" when my partner changed the batteries while holding the power button.... I pressed every single button to try and get out of it but nothing seemed to work, (I was getting pretty frusterated, there is nothing in the manual to tell you how to fix this problem), however, I have now learnt that as you replace the batteries you need to have the number 2 button held in as you replace the last battery. This works 100% so if you have any trouble with the "safe mode" then this is what fixes it.

Hi. I sure do know how to fix this! haha. Usually just taking the battery out for about a minute then putting it back in works, but if not it will get out of safe mode if you update the firmware.

1, Log in to the software.
2. Click 'Downloads' at the top
3. Click 'Firmware'
4. Update the remote

Logitech Harmony 1100 keeps resetting

Sounds like a memory issue with your remote. I would give a firmware upgrade a try in safe mode if you can. Here's the process:

To place your remote in Safe Mode:
1. Remove the battery and unplug the USB cable from the remote
2. Hold down the Off button and place the battery back in the remote while continuing to hold down the Off button. You should see Safe Mode appear on the LCD screen

With your remote in safe mode, you will then need to update the firmware. For steps on updating the firmware, refer to this article http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10747

If this does not resolve the issue, I recommend you contact support. To contact support, see this article http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9347

Cheers,

Safe mode!

I can help you with your Harmony One Remote Control.

Replacing the firmware in your Harmony One is the way to get it out of Safe Mode.

To help you make sure the firmware update is successful:

  1. May I suggest you make sure you are running the latest Harmony Setup Software (V 7.7.0).
  2. Replace your remote's batteries with fresh ones. It is important the remote has sufficient, unvarying power when updating firmware.
I hope that helps.
