Question about Arris SURFboard® SB5101 Cable Modem
This light pattern indicates that the modem can not
establish a connection to your internet service provider (ISP). This is
typically do to a signal related issue. To trouble shoot the problem you
will need to connect the modem directly to the main cable line where it
first enters into the home. This process is known as bypassing the splitters. You will know when the modem establishes a
connection by the top 4 lights becoming solid green. If bypassing your splitters resolved the issue than you will need to replace the malfunctioning splitter. Typically splitter only cost a few bucks and can be purchased from any electronic store. If at any point all
green lights start to blink in sequence than you will need to contact
your internet service provider to "unwall the modem". Remember most
internet service providers require you to register new modems on there
network. So if you have not all ready completed that process you will
most likely not have access. If you can not get a connection from the
main line than there is a issue with either the modem or the signal
coming into the home and you will need to contact your internet service
I hope that information above has helped is some way.
