Question about Computers & Internet
My 60 gb 4200 hd EIDE died and I have been going back and forth with HP/Compaq to determine what is the largest HD I can install. All they can do is keep referring me to their replace parts web page which has an 80 GB replacement.
Part number: 350212-001
Specification: 60 GB Ultra ATA/100 EIDEhard drive - 4,200 RPM, 2.5-inch
form factor, 1.0-inch height
Part number: 350213-001
Specification: 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 EIDE hard drive - 5,400RPM, 2.5-inch form
Which are cost about twice as much as the same drive any where else.
Is 80 GB the largest drive that this notebook will handle?
The HD capacity is defined by the bios software in the computer, if HP/Compaq tells you that 80Gb is the maximum capacity, then I think you should believe them, after all they should be the first one interested in selling more high price products, go for the 80Gb is .
