It's most likely the disc that is causing trouble. If all of your other games work, it the game you bought. I had the same problem with MySims Party, I went to the store where I bought it, they gave me a new disc, which worked fine.
Hi, Go to Control Panel > Game Controllers > Click on your controller and calibrate it. I am assuming you have installed the driver for your controller. If it still doesn't work, then you need to configure it from within a game or emulator. If it still doesn't work, you need to Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, click Performance, click the Data Execution Protection tab, and turn on DEP for everything except the game/emulator you want to play, then calibrate the gamepad from within the game's config settings.
Yeah I foudn the problem. I just found out one of the wires was broken inside, right above where the controler meets the wire. It was a grayish wire, probably the one that turns it on. No wonder it would only turn on if the wire was in a certain position, it was connecting the wires! Problem solved.
I have the same issue and i know it's working as it is using the default layout. I can tell this because pushing keys on the pad does what the default setting does but i can't do anything with profiles.
