Question about Kenmore 62602 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore dryer 70 series. The buzzer won't turn off once the cycle is finished until I open the door. If I move the timer into the middle of the cycle and close the dryer, it will start again w/o me having to push start. How do I fix this?

It sounds like your door switch. Not 100 % on this. When you open the dryer door does it continue to move?

  • writer458 Aug 21, 2010

No. The dryer or buzzer (depending on where the timer is pointed) stops when the door is open. But starts again as soon as I shut the door.

for those who might come across this thread later, it wasn't the timer. I replaced it and the same problem occurred. I'm going to try the replacing the start button now.

It sounds like you have a faulty switch. The switch located behind the start button controls both the on/off setting and the buzzer. You can either replace this switch (which will likely take care of both problems) or you can take it apart and adjust the contacts. You can test them with a multimeter before and after to make sure you've got them adjusted properly.

Kenmoore 70 series Buzzer will not stop

buzzer is built -in the timer you all should replace it if you really want it solved they have done their work over the years. It's not something you can just go in and unplug or cut sorry. Good Luck. Post your make and model numbers next time please.

  • the buzzer is located under the control panel.
  • you can unplug it.
  • unplug the dryer or turn the breaker off first
  • then take out the 2 screws on both sides of the control panel
  • bull it forward toward you and unhook it from the case
  • you should see the buzzer with two wires going to it
  • only need to disconnect one.
  •  just make sure you wrap the bare wire connector with electrical tape to keep it from touching metal.

Clothes Dryer will not stop or be quiet

On some Kenmore which is made by whirlpool, there is a resistor connected to the timer control. when the machine is off can you listen to the timer switch and hear it running, making a clock ticking sound? If so, you need a new resistor. Being a dryer, when you open the door and it stops the button needs to be reset before it starts again, right? So I wouldnt be looking at the door switch as much as the start button. It may be the evil one.
