Check to see if your evaporator fan is blowing in the freezer, then check your condensor fan behind the back panel. If those are both running make sure your coils are clean underneath your fridge. Cold goes down heat goes up, that's why it is warm up top and cold down. Start there. Good luck!

I looked in my manual and can't tell where the evaporator fan is. I think the condensor fan (lower right) is working.
The is ice build up on the back wall in the freezer.
    thanks

It is in the freezer. You should be able to hear it when you open the feezer door.

I have a GE Profile model # TPX2451YEBS side by side fridge. Both sides are not cold on upper part. The food in fridge on top 2 shelves and door shelves is just cool. The frozen food in door...

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice . If not. you have other issues, this does sound funny, but this is why your refrigerator side is warm, or not cooling.

Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
4. Defective Fan
5. Defective compartment inlet damper (on some models)

You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

My fridge is cold on the bottom shelves but hot on the top shelve and freezer is not cold enough to freeze

ge has had alot of problems with the computer boards but this sounds like the evap fan isn't working,i need you to answer a few questions for me,first when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing?also from the bottom up remove the second draw or food bin and put your hand on the back wall inside the freezer and tell me if there's like snow or frost on the wall,if so you have a defrost problem, one more thing check the model number, you'll find it in the fridge side,up on the right hand wall near the ceiling

Freezer seems to be working fine, but the refridgerator is cool at best with the thermostat all the way down. I tried to defrost, but with no help. I think the fan in the freezer might be bad.

The only place that cools in a refrigerator is the freezer. The refridgerator side stills cold from the freezer via an air duct that runs from the freezer to the refridgerator. If your fan in the freezer compartment is not working your refridgerator side will not work. To replace the fan you will need to clean out the freezer including the shelving. Then remove the back panel all you need is a phillips screw driver. When the back is replaced the fan is at the top. It is held in by two screws that go threw rubber mounts on the fan braces. You will need to remove one ground wire and two electric wires on the motor its self. Make sure to unplug the refrigerator before starting the repair. good luck

My refridgerator is not cold on the top shelves & door and the items in the freezer top and door are melting.

Sounds like the freezer fan motor stopped working . Usually the main control board is the problem . Part number WR55X10656 . The old part number was WR55X10552 . You should call a GE representative . to see if this can be replaced under warrenty , since it was/is on a recall list . There should be a phone number in your user guide , or on the internet .

Both top sections fridge/freezer of my side by side are not cold

Sounds like a defrost problem. Remove food from freezer section, take the back wall out after removing shelves, and use a hair blower to melt off the ice and frost. Most likely you need to replace the defrost heater.
