Have marvel-schebler tsx-428 carb on'53 ford naa . carb is loading up with gas and leaking out of the carb body. know a fix?

What are the settings on a Marvel-Schebler TSX 775 carburetor


Unfamiliar with this exact model #, but if this is a 1 barrel tractor carb, float should be level when inverted (ie: float edge parallel with carb edge), Main jet screwed in until bottoms (lightly) then out 1 1/2 turns (just starting point, must be fine tuned while running), Idle jet bottomed then 1 1/2 turn to start, then fine tune. All final settings made while running and fully warmed up.

Carb problem on 3010 john deere tractor. i would like to know if anyone has changed a maevel schebler to a zenith carberator without changing intakes


You have to make an adaptor plate as the two carbs have different bolt pattern. but you will not be happy with the zenith. Take the time and rebuild the m-s its a better carb.

wot is the problem with the carb , they are very easy to rebuild !? place all bits on white paper , clean all parts and blow out the jets and all dirt in the carb and check the float needle is clean and no grooves on the tip and moves freely in place ! put floats in a bowl of fuel and make sure the float ! slowly re fit all parts , float level is approx flat wen carb is held upside down ! re fit and fuel up and hope you have fun ! Have a John Deere 3020 with a Marvel-Schebler carburetor. Not staying running seems like its out of gas and it is getting fuel it runs a short wile and dies pump the fuel pump manual pump and it runs for...


Have you checked that your float is working properly in the carb? If it is sticking with the plunger shut it will block fuel inlet regardless of having fuel supply?

Have you checked to see if there is definitely fuel in the line at the carb when it's acting up?

Have you made sure that there is still spark when it quits running? You could have something that is grounding out when it warms up and makes it quit firing that while you 'fuss' with gas issues, cools enough to spark then fails again. Hard to say without more details. Also are you sure there isn't a clogged fuel filter in the tank, carb-inlet or inline somewhere?

Don't think that is possible, but are you sure th timing marks a proper and did you know if you were on the right cylinder and on a compression stroke. I have a 53. Go to Ford 9n 2n 8n naa tractor discussion forum. There are alot of good guys that can be off tremendous help.

I have a Marvel-Schebler carburetor, Model Tsx. My carb had needle brings in throttle shaft. When I removed throttle shaft the needle brings fell out. The kit does not have new bearing in kit. What is the...


There are no needle bearings in the carb, they came from someplace else. And I suspect a connecting rod. The only place I can think off where they could have come from. And I'll tell you why. I had a 66 Saab, 3 cyl, 3 carbs, 2 stroke,4 speed on the column, front wheel drive, rack and pinion steering, way ahead of it's time. Neat little car. Never got stuck. But, I had a problem once with a piston slapping, I could stick my finger in the spark plug hole and feel the piston come up and fall down, I said what the? So I replaced the engine, I had a spare. Took off the head and the top of the piston was just peppered with needle bearings from the wrist pin. How they got up there , I don't know, but they were there. Hope this helps.

My 91 acura integra is stalling after idling for just a few minutes. I just bought the car and it ran fine until just recently. I also noticed a gas smell after the car started again.


Idle is controlled by two main sensors: the FITV and the IACV. The FITV is a mechanical valve that is controlled by coolant temperature (there is no ECU plug to it). When the coolant is cold, the valve is open and letting air into the Intake Manifold through a hole in the Throttle Body above the throttle plate. This creates a small vacuum leak which in turn lets the motor idle higher than normal (supposed to be above 1K RPM for warming up). As the coolant warms up the valve closes and no longer lets air in through the hole in the throttle body. From this point the IACV, which is Engine Control Unit controlled, is letting small amounts of air into the Intake Manifold through another hole in the Throttle Body. Any amount of extra air the ECU is not expecting will confuse it and you will get either a high idle or a roaming/hunting/fluctuating idle. The principal of engine to operate is a need to have a Fuel : Air ratio of 14.6:1. You smell the gas after restart since the unburnt gas, when the engine dies, got pushed out through the exhaust manifold.
Th following are in order one after the other until it fix problem.
1- Find and replace the vacuum leak on hoses mentioned above.
2- Clean the the gunk built up at holes mentioned above.
3- Replace thermal valve at engine block identified by two vacuum hoses connecting to the Throttle Body.
