When i turn it on the screen turns green then blue and then shuts off

This is one of a group of sets that had bad picture tubes (RED, GREEN AND BLUE).

The tubes are no longer available from Sony and only available on a rebuild basis---very expensive.

There is something easy that requires no parts you can try in an attempt to cure it. Takes about 15 minutes and I can tell you how and what to do.

If this is of interest to you rate this solution as very helpful and comment here and I will assist you.

I have a kp65ws500 that turns on for about 5

These sets have a history of bad picture tubes-the tubes are only available on a rebuild basis and very expensive.

there is an option:

v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} SONY SCREEN ADJUSTMENT:

Here is what you need to do.

1.) You need to remove the entire plastic piece below the front of the screen. You most likely will find 3 screws on either side in back that you have to remove.

2.) The grill will not come out easy, pull from one side and then when it starts to come loose from the other side(there are several plastic pegs that hold it in.) Then from the bottom pull out( most of these sets have square plastic tabs at the top that tuck in.)

3.) With the grill removed locate the inspection plate behind it (it usually has 6 screws.) You will have to tilt the grill to the left and on its side as several cables are connected to it--they are held in place with trash bag like ties that you can release to get some room.

4.) With the inspection plate removed you will see a fairly small (about 3 inch square) BLACK PLASTIC BLOCK WITH SIX CONTROLS-usually they are marked with whiteout so someone can tell if they have been adjusted.

5.) You need to look very close at the block with a flashlight----usually the top three controls are FOCUS--don't touch those.
The lower three are usually marked Screen and if you look very close you will see b, g, r(blue green red)

6.)Usually the GREEN will be in the middle.

7.) Once you locate the green screen control have the set on and turn it down--if the set is shutting down you may have only a few seconds to try to turn it down---usually to the left with the Screen control.

8.) Best way to do this if the set is on is on a video input clip_image001.gif with nothing connected--you turn the green screen down until the set stays on and then very slowly turn it up until you see a slightly green screen with or without diagonal trace lines----turn it down slowly until the Blue screen and trace lines just disappear.

Let me know if you get it to work--Like I said if it is shutting down you may have to slowly turn the screen down a few times to get it to stay on.

Turns on for a few seconds, turns green then shuts off.

Sounds like you have a problem with the green crt. That is the one I've most commonly seen fail first. Your tv has three picture tubes in it that can be accessed from the front of the set. The picture tubes(crts) have a filament inside the neck like a light bulb has a filament. Over a period of time tiny particles burn off and the debris can cause a short circuit from one piece of the filament to the other. The tubes are no longer avail. as a new replacement part but the tubes in your set can possibly be saved. One trick is to lightly tap on the neck of the tube with an insulated post or screwdriver handle. Right when you turn the set on and it goes green sometimes you can lightly tap on it, (the middle tube) and knock the debris free removing the short. If that doesn't work the tubes can be rejuvinated/cleaned using a machine found in most repair shops known as a picture tube rejuvinator. My experience is that this procedure should cost 100.-200. plus service call. Most service people will tell you that this is not a guaranteed fix, but 90% of the time it works and you can get years of more use from the tv. Good luck, Russmann.

Screen goes all blue

if it is a KP65ws500 it is one of a group of sets made by Sony where all the picture Tubes(set has a RED, Green, and Blue Tube.) ARE BAD. Most of these sets had all three tubes replaced during a program Sony had. The tubes are NO LONGER AVAILABLE---the only way to get one is remove the tube and send it out for rebuild---most of these cost about 250-300 just for the tube.

The set is shutting down because when the screen goes bright blue it detects one of the CRT's(tubes) is pulling way to much current.

The problem with Replacing your Blue Tube is cost and----sooner or later the other two(red and green) are going to fail also.

best advice is maybe not to fix it.

I replaced dozens of the tubes in these sets when Sony had a recall and provided the tubes for free and paid for the labor etc.

I know I am not giving you good news but I do this here for free and if this has been helpful give me a vote here. Thanks!

I believe the picture tube went out on my TV How can I be sure that is the problem and where can I order the part from?

Most of the time when a Tube shorts out If Red then when set come on after a few sec you will see red lines go across screen then TV will shut off If Green then green lines so on.you can unplug CRT board on tube one at a time unless you know which one maybe bad If tube is bad set will play with CRT disconnected.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

You have a bad green picture tube. If you have warranty coverage good, if not then forget about it. Get a new TV.

Screen flashes green and tv shuts off

The average life of a picture tube now days is only 6 to 7 years, base on the symptom and the age of the set I hate to tell you but your picture tube is bad and it has to be replaced but a new picture tube for this set would cost more than a brand new television,I would suggest not to spend any money and invest in a new set.Sorry
