The issue is that you changed to hdmi and the tv does not support it ..now you need to make a hdmi connection on some tv or monitor that supports this kinda cable ...and after that to change it back ..to vga or whatever cable you used...and will work again ..

put the tv on hdmi ..if it has more than one plug ..change it to another cause I sometimes they do not work in all..try the second or 3rd channel

  • Anonymous Aug 21, 2010

tried all 3 ports, starting to think it might be my hd cable

this is a possibility ...if you used another kind before and so ..try another cable ...but if the tv detects the cable ..it might be just a setting ..usually if ot does not work in one works in the other ..I did got times when it didnt work in all ports for the hdmi ..reset and try again after you get another cable ...do not buy one ..try to borrow just to see if it is it to blame ..and buy one after you see that this is the case

  • Make sure the system is off.
  • Hold down the Power Button for 5-6 seconds - until you hear the second beep.
  • That's it, your video settings are reset and you should be able to choose your input and configure it from there

My ps3 console signal isn't working but the sound works but there is no signal! not even a hdmi cable works help!

Try these tips to fix the so-called "black screen of death".

Tip 1: The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI cable may be damaged and not properly connected to the PS3 console. Please follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:

    1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
    2) Look for loose cables.
    3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damaged, borrow a friends cable and try it. If your friends cable works fine, and the black screen error disappears. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable for a replacement.

Tip 2: Only try as last resort. There is a possibility you'll lose all data on your PS3's hard drive. If tip 1 didn't work, you will need to go a step deeper and reset your console. Most PS3 gamers are not aware that Sony actually included a black screen of death troubleshooting method and other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under the troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".

If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer profile, and other storage data on the hard drive.

You will need to perform the following steps:

    1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
    2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
    3. Listen for one long beep, followed by two shorter beeps.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Follow the instructions on screen.

If it works you should be good to go.

PS3 problems At home I have a new samsung hd 1080p TV that I normally use for my PS3. I will be in a hotel outa town for the next couple of days and I wanna watch a movie using my PS3. In my...

I had the same problem, stuck in a hotel room for 2 days. When I held down the button, next time I turned it on, I got the same prompt with using HDMI output, said yes, and screen went black. However, a screen then came up asking if I could see the image or not, but it has a 30 second time limit before it saves those setting, you have to click "No" on this screen, and it will drop the resolution to 780p instead of 1080 and it should work! Make sure you're paying attention so you don't miss the screen!

I think maybe the following steps might help you out :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to start.

This solution basically resets the video output back to standard definition.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

ok, try this, disconnect your ps3 entirely, including power, then plug in the HDMI FIRST, then the power cable, the device will enter standby mode, turn the device on and see if that works. if it doesnt repeat what i just said but instead of turning it on hold the power button for 8-10 seconds. this resets the device to origional setting and when it turns on it should detect that the HDMI is the only connected media, thus selecting it as the primary output. Hope This Helps!
