Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The drum isn't turning. Perhaps the belt has come a little loose and is not giving enough grip to turn the drum when it is loaded. (Half load in there currently.) Can't see anywhere to tighten the belt.

There is no belt in a washing machine. They are all direct or gear box driven. If it is front load then it is a direct drive dc motor. You probably have bad coils in the motor. THis is not a cheap item to repair.

Drum wont turn but the moter does

Hello Deanna - This particular issue could be caused by a variety of reasons. I would suggest trying the following steps:

1) Verify a circuit breaker isn't tripped

2) Advance the timer control dial slowly 360 degrees-

If the washer starts spinning, then that means the motor and drive belt are fine but that there is something wrong with either the timer control dial or the agitator solenoid. Call in a professional for this.

If the washer doesn't budge, then verify that the drive belt(s) is attached and not broken by removing the back panel. If the belt is broken, replace it. If it is loose, then tighten it by loosening up the bolt holding the motor and moving it on its swingarm (much like a car alternator) until there is a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection in the belt.
Some washers use reversing motors. It's possible the motor works on the spin cycle but not on the wash cycle. If so, call a pro.

3) Visually inspect the lid safety switch- Is it loose or cracked? If so, the washer might work intermittently, stopping at different cycles.

4) Check motor and drive belt- Remove the main access panel (usually in the back). Is the motor spinning, but the drive belt isn't? If so, then you have a drive belt problem.

Dryer will turn but only with very small load

The belt is probably slipping, with so little information it's hard to diagnose. Take off cover after FIRST DISCONNECTING MAINS, get someone to grip belt firmly while you turn drum slowly by hand. SLOWLY as you dont want to trap any fingers!!! If the belt stays where it is but the drum turns its not tight enough. Also examine the route of the belt through the pulleys on the motor. Come back with more info.

Every time I turn on the air or heat when the car is running My power steering iseffected and a loud screech? But not when the car not running (blower motor works) I think it is the ac condencer?

you need to replace the serpentine belt and perhaps the belt tensioner. When a heavy load is put on the belt, like turning on the AC, the drag may stop the belt from turning. This would stop the power steering pump from turning causing a hard steer condition. The belt is not gripping the pulleys tight enough. This is due to a worn out serpentine belt or worn out tensioner. If the AC works( cools the car) then replace the belt. If this does not cure the problem then replace the belt tensioner as well.

Creda drier drum will not rotate when fully loaded

The belt could be worn or bad or the tension spring is to loose and not keeping enough tension on the belt. When loaded to max belt just slips and doesn't turn the drum.

Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

Drum motor won't spin

can you hear the motor running when you turn it On?

try to open the back of your machine, you can see inside the motor, belt and other mechanical parts, try to turn it on while looking at the parts but DON"'T GET TO CLOSE,

If the motor is running and the belt is NOT, then UNPLUG the unit, tighten the belt just a little enough not to slip away then try it, it should be a little loose

Dryer buzz when I try to start, If I open the door, hold down the door switch and turn the drum it's start the motor and run. Any idea why?

The drum belt is probably worn and slipping on the motor shaft. Spraying belt dressing on the belt may give it enough grip to get started temporarily but the belt should be replaced soon.

Stackable washer/dryer

hi..
When your dryer drum isn’t turning anymore, it’s usually a broken belt. Tearing the dryer apart is usually straight-forward enough but stringing the new belt on the motor and idler pulley can be tricky. The Complete Encyclopedia of Dryer Belt Configurations shows the belt configurations for almost every dryer brand you can think of.

this will fix ur problem..
thank u rate me
