Check your fuel filter in the fuel tank to make sure it is clean if it is then"
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instrucitons you get with the carburetor kit.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I also recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.

My curved shaft gas trimmer by troy bilt tb22 ec wont start

General rule: You need 3 things for an engine to start, fuel, air and spark. Do this test first (fuel)and this will eliminate the need to test for spark or air. Remove the spark plug, spray carburetor spray in the plug hole, a good 3 squirts, don't be afraid it won't hurt a thing. Put back in the plug and try and start the unit. Now if the unit starts to run for 3 to 5 seconds, you have a fuel problem for sure.

Your next step will be to clean the carburetor .. and that is a whole other lesson... BUT, simply go on you tube, type in how to clean a 2 cycle carburetor, you will have a ton of choices. Go with the one that has the most views for aure. Good luck! !

I have a weed eater trimmer that wont start. ben sitting for a couple years and i replaced the fuel lines andcleaned the carb. still nothing, what do i do?

Try cleaning the spark plug, make sure it sparks. Put some fresh gasoline in the tank, check start stop switch.
A easy way to check whether the problem is related to carb or not is:
remove the spark plug put some fresh gasoline in the cylinder, put the spark plug back
pull the starter a few times if it starts for a few seconds it means is related to carb.
Be carefully when handling gasoline.

Troy-bilt gas edger trencher won't start. Spark

Remove spark plug and pour 5mls or one teaspoon of premixed gas in the engine. Depress trottle to full with choke on "run", pull starter about 10 to 12 times If it starts and run for a while and then shuts off your carb needs servicing. If not remove muffler and look for a spark arrestor screen. This could be plugged up with soot. If it is, replace and this would have been your problem. While the muffler is off slowly pull starter rope and examine the piston if gas and oil oozes backwards as the piston moves to the top then the piston and rings need replacing.

Trimmer won't start after following instructions

Might need a new spark plug if it's more than a year old. I had mine a year and after the winter couldn't get it to start. Replaced the spark plug and it's good as new.

Brand new , won't start, no spark at plug, switch ok

If you know for sure that it's not getting fire, then I would take it back to where you purchased it. It sounds as if it has a bad ignition module.

Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

Troy-Bilt Chipper Shredder won't start

It takes good gas, good spark, and good air for a gasoline engine to run well. The next thing I would do is put a new air filter in it.

Weed eater does not start

I had a similar problem with my troy-bilt weedeater. I tried replacing the sparkplug, replaced the fuel filter and etc. It still would not start. I looked at the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual and it listed a possible cause as a clogged spark arrestor. I cleaned out the spark arrestor by taking it off and cleaning it with a wire brush. Now it runs like brand new again. I hope this helps.
