Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If still the issue is not resolved then to resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash

-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Sorry I think I missed out your previous comments, you
could have a problem with the heating circuit (i.e. element, thermostat or
wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not
engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down
making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it). If everything appears to be working fine then the issue is with the control panel you can try to blow air with the help of hair dryer to blow any moisture.

  • froggysand Aug 26, 2010

OK I tried the bending the latch down and blow dried the panel then tried the reset procedure again. Now I have 2 lights blinking. The normal wash and the high temp wash light.

Hi.

You have to do a reset procedure by pressing a sequence of buttons.

THis is often call Button dance, as you need to press "high temp wash and " no heat " ("air dry depending on model) back and forth 3 -4 times.. See:You have to press a series of button in sequence.

    Hi.

To reset you have to do the button dance. There are some variations depending on what buttons your model has.

If the machine did reset, but then went back on fault mode with light blinking , then there is a fault. In that case you need to test the internal parts to find out what is wrong.

    Hi.

You think it worked, and leave this miserable rating just to get the money back?!

Please be serious and remove the bad rating given. This has no effect on your refund that has already been issued and save me sending a request for rating change.

    Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: kenmore 665 dishwasher will not drain

Hi

If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:

Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.

Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

Belt One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.

Motor If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa if found useful and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

SOURCE: Kenmore Dishwasher won't drain

If you opened and closed the door and it started, that sounds like a bad, door switch in the console.

But you did hear a hum sound when it tryed to drain, it could be the drain solenoid, or the motor/pump assembly.

Take off the bottom access and look at the solenoid when it starts to drain, the piston in the solenoid should move freely, up and down with the white drain flapper that it connects to.

Also check for bad wiring connections at the power junction box where the power hooks up to it under the dishwasher, i have seen the wire nuts either come loose or burn off due to loose connections.

Try flipping the breaker that controls it and let it sit for a while and see if that resets it. If it does not, the controller board is most likely the problem.

Kenmore is **** with a double PP go buy a Maytag or GE and throw it threw the appliance dept like the Discount tire guy did on TV. I have asked the same question on 4 different blog's and no answer. The question to where they were actually built is unavailable. They only warranty products for 1 year and their disclaimer's add up to when you walk out the door. They are just JUNK! sorry I do not know the answer, first you will pay the repair man then end up buying a new one anyway. Same as me..Peace!

Ok, Turn breaker off at breaker panel. Just off then on. The rinse only light should be on.....not flashing. Now press the start button first and hold; then press the cancel button. That should cancel all lights. Then press wash button then start. If the light is still flashing after you turn off breaker....you might have a bigger problem. May need new control panel.

Sounds like the electronic controls (smart card) are acting up. Try shutting off the power at your fuse box or shut off the circuit breaker for 1 minute them turn the power on again. This fix quite often works on electronic appliances.
