My PS3 will not give any signal to the tv. I tried holing the power down for 5 to 10 seconds but nothing happened. At about 30 seconds it beeped again and I restarted it but it didn't help.

The beep signaled the reset so it should have worked. Either you aren't connecting it correctly or the video output stage of your console is fried.
To check the connection just use the composite one instead of the HDMI - don't forget to plug the cables with both the console and the tv shut down and later to select it from the AV options on your tv. If it's the same then it's time to take the console to a dealer's repair shop.

Hold down the power button for five seconds and it will reset the image settings. Unplug and replug your video/audio cable or HDMI cable and leave then out for a few min and thne plug it all back in and turn the power on

The console appears to have a failure in the video section. The "no signal" message comes from the display unit (TV) itself. It means that the set is not getting a signal. Assuming that the console is connected to AV1 and the TV is set to AV1 for example, then the console is not sending a signal. At this point, the console will require an examination of the video generation area. You can try conecting the console to the TV using an alternative method (component vs. composite for example). This would that the console is set to output via the correct method.

Please keep us posted.

I have a sony tv and a ps3 and it will not pick up my ps3 how do i fix it

You can try to reset the video settings on the ps3. If you have had it hooked up to a hd tv it may be defaulted to the HD signal and need to reset the video output to be the right format for your tv. To do this simply hold the power button down when you turn the power on to the ps3. You will press to turn the power on and then keep the button pressed until you hear the unit make a beep (about 3 - 5 seconds) then let go. This resets the video settings to match what the unit is plugged into currently.
You can also try a factory reset, I have that listed below if the video reset fails to fix the issue.

This will wipe all the saved games and data from the machine but I have found it to correct most issues with the ps3.

You will need to push the power button to turn on the unit, but keep the power button held down for about 30 seconds. You will hear a beep (resetting the video settings), then 2 more beeps. After the 3rd beep you can let go of the power button and it should take you to the set up screens like you just got it out of the box.

You will lose everything you have saved doing this but it seems to make the system run just like out of the box again. If this does not fix the problem then it most likely is a hardware issue and may need serviced or replaced.

Had the ps3 working fine, plugged it into another tv and nothing, the tv wont pick up the signal.. went to plug it back into the 1st tv and still nothing

Try resetting the display back to standard definition -

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)
Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep

Wait for the PS3 display to reset

Hope this helps

I hooked the ps3 to the philips tv. turned on the ps3, AV1 displays in the corner. Nothing else happens, I am expecting the ps3 logo

give this a try...

Leave the TV running, go over to your PS3 and turn it off.

Once its off, hold the power button down till you hear a beep, KEEP HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON till you hear a double beep. The PS3 will shut itself off.

Give the device a couple of seconds, then hit the power button one last time (just turn it on, you don't have to hold it).

If all went right, your baby is back up and running...

It comes on but I can't get anything on the screen. if I put a game in it gives me the blue and green light but nothing happens

  • Have your ps3 in standby mode (red light).
  • Now, press and hold the power button in the front down. Your ps3 will beep twice. Let it go almost exactly after you heard the second beep.
  • Wait 10-15 seconds. A display will show up, and just answer yes to all!
try this

Tv says "no signal" when i turn on PS3

About holding the reset button, I assume you know how to use that trick, you might be missing something, though: Probably you have your TV set to the incorrect input, eg. Connect only the HDMI, set your TV to HDMI input and go with the power button trick (press (youll hear a beep), dont release until you hear a second beep) the system will autmatically display through HDMI, it can take up to 5 secons or so.
