I have a Bernina 130, the thread from the bobbin is coming out with huge loops, the top thread looks great, but turn over the fabric and you have a mess. Any advice is welcome.

Usually if your bobbin thread is loopy it's because the TOP thread is not threaded right. Try threading it again with the presser foot UP and make sure to get the thread between the upper tension discs. It's just the opposite of what you would think.....if the bobbin thread is loopy, the top thread is threaded wrong, if the top thread is loopy, the bobbin is threaded wrong. Good luck!

Bernina 1080 Solution for "back spin"? Top thread suddenly becomes very loose. Top thread forms loops under cloth being sewn.

Try these suggestions
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case
& make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads
6. Check to make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
7. Make sure the bobbin case is correctly in the machine,, if it's a top loading bobbin you may need to have the bobbin case checked to see if it's damaged or see if the hook and hook race has a problem
8. Make sure the top thread tension is on the correct setting for the fabric being sewed.
9.Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.

I have a Bernina Activa 130. I tried to sew over some leather, started fine, then the needle got stuck and I stopped right away. Now, the bottom threads keeps bunching. I have re-threaded the machine, new...

You need a fatter needle. The skinny needle will not open the leather enough for a smooth flow of thread and that's why the bobbin is bunching up when the top thread is sticking. Make it easier on your machine by using an appropriate size needle while sewing leather.

Hi, my Bernina activa 130 is bunching and chopping up the bottom thread as I sew my fabric. I've used both jersey and knit fabric both single and double folds with straight and zig zag stitches and the...

If the thread is bunching under the fabric, most likely it is bird nesting.

The other possibility is that there is an incompatibility of needle/thread/fabric. Be sure to use a brand new needle! Use only good quality sewing machine thread--AVOID old or bargain bin threads!

Bernina 1008 sewing machine making huge clumps of loops on underside of fabric. have tried moving screw on bobbin in two opposite directions without a sign of improvement.

Hi: You have threaded the machine incorrectly. Rethread the machine with the presser foot up to the needle, pull the thread (loose) and drop the presser foot while pulling thread, thread should get tighter, then thread needle and machine will work fine. Make sure the top tension is set at where you normally have it, probably about #4 or #5

Threadtension wrong when free motion quilting

If the thread under the fabric is loose you need to tighten the upper tension. If it's on 4, bring it to 5. If it's on 5, bring it to six and continue doing that and sewing till its perfect. You may need to decrease your lower tension if you can't get it just right.

Thread tension problem when sewing on heavy fabrics

Sometimes when I need to use heavy thread for top stitching to reinforce a seam that has come undone, I will use the heavy thread on the top and regular thread on the bottom. I haven't tried it the other way around for hemming but I would think it would work. I do not currently have a Bernina.

Thread loops in top of embroidery

If it was an upper tension problem your loops would be beneith the fabric. Since the loops are on top this tells me the lower tension is too loose. There is a small screw on your bobbincase that you need to turn clockwise to adjust it. Do the adjustment little by little until its good. I would do it like a clock. First turn the screw to one o'clock. Still looping? Go to 2 o'clock etc.
If this doesn't help you, a clean opikl, and adjust by your local dealership could be anywhere from 50.00 to 90.00.
Good luck
