Question about Gold Lantern GPS

1 Answer

Hi, The power cord to my SuperTalk II windshield visor-mounted Bluetooth device broke. The round case that ends in the tip that you insert into your car's cigarette lighter cracked and the metal tip is gone. I would like to replace the power cord. The SuperTalk II itself is fine. Please tell me how I can replace the power cord. Many thanks. Regards, -- Dan

OK, well it's pretty easy really inside the thing that plugs into the cigarette lighter there are two wires, plus Red & Minus Black. Now that metal tip is POSITIVE and the other wire is negative, or earth.
You could simply go to say radio shack, or similar, and get a another 12 V male cigarette plug, and solder it on, or, you could get another already wired lead, and splice them together. As said there are only two wires and they should simply go color to color. Or if they don't match, then simply wire Plus to the Plus and negative to negative. There you go, your up and running again.

Drivers side visor snapped and radio stopped working ????

The antenna is a wire mounted inside the visor. If you don't want to put in a new visor, you can remove the wire and attach it to your headliner or at the top of your windshield.

How do remove driver side sun visor

Hi,

My driver's side visor inexplicably fell out the other day and I had to re-install it.

The metal frame has two openings in close proximity for the visor mounting. One is triangular and the other is a hole.

The teardrop portion of the visor has a post which fits into the above mentioned hole. The visor arm is attached to a piece which has three plastic lugs.

There is an opening visible in the last photo from the OP. I used a flat tip screwdriver and pressed IN on the tab inside the opening. This "dis-connects" the two pieces and allows the teardrop portion and the triangular lugs to move separately.

So, to install visor, press the tab, release the two portions, align the post with the hole and turn visor until three lugs line up with the points of the triangle. Push assembly flush with headliner and move visor back and forth until you hear a "click" and the two pieces are connected again. When I did it the click came when I moved the visor far forward (towards windshield). This position was approximately 45 degrees with respect to the line of the top of the windshield. I would imagine the dis-assembly is the opposite procedure.

Hopes this helps.

Best regards

The power cord should have a round yellow plastic tip. It sounds like you're using a cord that has the mini-USB end and are plugging it in to the data transfer port.

Rearview Mirror looseness

Note: You may want to remove the mirror from the windshield first to make the following steps easier. It's not necessary, but it's up to you. If so, pry off the plastic cover at the top of the mirror stalk, disconnect the power cord, and then pull the mirror downwards and parallel to the windshield to remove it.

Method 1: On the back side of the mirror below the ball joint, there is a small round cover. Insert a sharp blade tip at the top of the cover and carefully pry it out. Underneath is the tip of the tension screw. It has a slot in the end of it that can be tightened with a small flat-blade screwdriver. Carefully replace the cover, inserting the bottom tab first, then snap in the top. If the mirror is still not tight enough, go to Method 2.

Method 2: Carefully pry off the rim bezel of the mirror, starting in the middle of the seam on the bottom, working your way around the edge. The bezel will pop off when you get past one of the ends. I used a pair of heavy guitar picks to keep the latches from snapping back into place as I progressed. Once the bezel falls off, the mirror assembly will dangle from the power cord. The Phillips tension screw is in the center bottom of the case; tighten it to suit, and make certain that the four bracket mounting screws around it are all tight, too. Then place the mirror assembly back in place and snap the bezel back into place, starting at the top.
