65 hp evinrude removal of flywheel

Remove the Flywheel nut, Get a steering wheel puller or a harmonic balancer puller that has a pin in the bottom. ( I have both and the official OMC one the OMC is the best) . Get the proper length bolts and make sure they go far enough into the flywheel to engage all the threads but not too far as to damage the coils. Make sure they are screwed in evenly. Then tighten the puller while holding the flywheel ( you can use a screwdriver by the starter or a flywheel holder)and when it feels tight hit the top of the tightening bolt (This is the one in the center of the puller with a hammer. that will "pop" the flywheel. if it doesn't come tighten more and hit it again. The shock of the hammer will pop it off. If you don't shock it, it may not pop off the taper.

Here is a picture of the OMC puller and a Steering wheel puller the OMC is the black one.

Here is the proper bolt. Official OMC tool bolt

Notice the thread length is limited as this is a shoulder bolt made especially for pulling OMC flywheels. That prevents them from screwing in too far and helps keep them even.

Pulley not coming off

Depending on the Vehicle, You may have to put a Jack under the Oil Pan with something to distribute the weight and to protect the Oil Pan and then what you need to do is this...

Jack up the motor, remove the Upper Motor Mount and now you can lower the engine far enough to get the Pulley out of Most cars... I know this works on Honda, Hyundai and Toyota's without any issue. Just be smart to not just drop the front of the Motor and tax the Transaxle/CV Joints...

Good Luck

Make sure you disconnect the power seat wiring after you get the seat positioned for removal. Prior to removing seat. Also disconnect the side air bag wiring (yellow) if equipped.

How to assemble an electeic motor/ getting the armature past the brushes

The brushes are spring loaded (as you know), but if you look carefully, often there are small holes that a toothpick will fit into, in the track for the brush. Push each brush back far enough to put the toothpick into the hole, usually there is another hole on the other side, put the pick into that to hold the brush back. Repeat with the other brush, then install the armature. Once it is in place, remove both toothpicks.

I am trying to use a puller to pull the pulley off of a power steering pump but no matter what brand or kind they always slip right off.

There is a specially made puller that is used to remove and install these pulleys. It is a multi-part puller that has a two part holding fixture that grabs onto the nose of the pulley and is held there with a metal sleeve that slides over it. Once it is on there is a center bolt and nut that you turn to pull the pressed-in-place pulley off of the shaft. The tool also is used to press the pulley back onto the shaft. Some parts stores will rent you this puller but they aren't very expensive if you have to buy one. These pulleys are on there pretty tight as it's just friction that keeps them in place. MAKE SURE you note how far the original pulley is pressed onto the shaft so you get it pressed back to that same spot when you are done otherwise you can end up with a belt that won't track straight, derails, or is noisy. Good luck, hope this helps!

How do i keep motor from rotating when removing balancer

I remove the nut by putting the proper size socket on a breaker bar and stabilize it against the frame somewhere. Turn the key ***Just far enough to BUMP the engine*** This will loosen the balancer nut enough that you can remove it. When putting it back on, make sure all the plugs are installed. Tighten it the best you can. It will clinch when you start it up.
