I have a HP Touchsmart IQ500 that is a little over a year old. It was working fine and I went out one day to come back and start it up to find it was only a blue screen with a few options.I found someone with a similar problem and they explain it better so here is the problem: The system booted up to the blue screen with the HP and Intel logos and four options listed which were: , , , and . Pressing either F10 or Esc resulted in the messages "Entering Setup..." or "Loading Boot Menu..." respectively but the system immediately freezes. Pressing either F9 or F11 has no discernable effect at all. Pressing Ctrl Alt Delete, pressing the power button, or hard-cycling the power all have the same effect of bringing me right back to the blue screen. There seems to be no computer response to anything I do, besides the blue screen being there. I also cannot get the computer to start in safe mode, since I also tried that.

Hi,
This might be an issue with the Hard drive or the operating system installed on the hard drive.
Try to access BIOS screen tapping on F10 on restart.
If you are able to access Bios try to run the Short smart self test on the Hard drive.
To run the test follow the steps as follows:
on the main window you will see 1 st drive 2nd drive 3rd drive 4th drive.
besides these drive letters you will find your Hard drive listed.
Highlight that and press enter.
on the next screen highlight Smart support and press enter.
on the next screen select Short smart self test and run the test.
If it gives an error code that means the hard drive has gone bad.
2)If not then come back on the main page by clicking on ESC button till you come back to the main page.then Press F5 select yes to load set up defaults and press enter.Press F10 once to save configuration changes and press enter.
It will boot to windows.
3)Still if you face the same issue then you need to perform the recovery using the recovery cds.
4)If you don't have the recovery cds then you can contact HP support and order the cds and perform the recovery.
This should resolve your issue.
Thanks.

How do i restore a HP TouchSmart IQ500 Series Pc

You might want to try running an anti-virus or anti-malware scan first. Bad slow downs are usually a sign of an infected system. If it doesn't find anything I would be surprised.

Can't use touch screen on hp smart touch

If it is TouchSmart you have an issue with, go to the control panel and select touchscreen configuration. Make sure your global touchscreen settings are set to enabled. Click save and then close.

If this is not the issue it is possible there are hardware damages to the touch screen. Has it been dropped at all?

HP Pavilion g series g7 black screen but occasion flicker shows it is up and running.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture is okay! the problem lies in the inverter board, "just below the screen" or the backlight behind the LCD display, or the video cable from the screen to the motherboard has come loose from the plugin. But if both show the same symptom it means the Video Graphics Card is defective, normally built into the motherboard.

since its 1 decade old
the RTC coin cell is bad.
so is the main huge battery, run the PC with no battery here 1st
then if it still fails a new coin cell
if still dead, running on the power pack AC
power on and do a F11 recovery power on, hammer f11
if the HDD is still good, F11 will work and you go back to day one
state. (all data lost and all added apps lost)
are you backuped.

in recovery,(posted 1million times at HP) we do startup file repair before the full recovery, and hope.

i run HDD tests but Im not covering that here, done so 100 times here.

HP IQ506 losses wireless connection woken from sleep mode

Well, my solution has worked six consecutive times so MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, this is the final fix. At any rate I went into the Device manager, network adaptor card, 802.11 wireless card and then the advanced tab. Here I found the the Carrier Detect disabled so I enabled it. I also went to the power saving mode on the same property list and set the value to CAM (Constantly Awake). As mentioned, I have put the machine to sleep six times since the change and all six time it reawakens with the network card enabled. You have to wait a about a minute once the system is back up for it to connect to the internet but it does so flawlessly. By the way, before I went to the Adavanced tab I hit the tab called General and it told me "The device is working properly". I'm not sure what this mean when in fact it could not see the network. I just ignored it.

I don't know if my making these setting changes will affect anything else but if you know that they will please notify me. So far, so good.

PS: HP support didn't seem to know anything about this. Neither the PC people or the printer people seemed to know about network issues. I like the machine quite a bit but the support left me cold.
