Problem with a Whirlpool Upright Freezer

We have a frost free freezer that's less than 2 years old. It recently has started collecting water in the very bottom of the inside of the freezer, which then freezes up underneath the bottom basket. I checked the drain pan underneath, and its dry as a bone. I am assuming that the drain line to the drain pan may be clogged, and not allowing the water to get to the pan. But I don't know how to find the drain line or how to clean it. Can you help?

One way would be to unplug the freezer and allow all the ice to melt.It will open the path for draining. Then plug it back in making sure that there is know gaps on your door gasket that would allow warm air in which would make the same problem.

Freezer fan only run sometimes

If you nudged the fan and it started working it could be defective and needs to be replaced or it could be freezing up because of freezing condensation. Be sure that all the coils under and behind the fridge, if there are any,
are free from dirt and dust. If this is a refridg/freezer be sure the air vent between them, on the inside, is not blocked by anything. The airflow is necessary for proper temp control.

Water is leaking into the fridge from the freezer. It is a top freezer with ice maker

It's likely due to a problem in the defrost drain or a leak in the ice maker. You may be able to solve such problems quite quickly, possibly in just a few steps. Have the owner's manual available to help you find

Some models have a selector switch to allow for a manual defrost cycle. If your freezer has this setting (check your owner's manual), ensure that the switch wasn't set to defrost accidentally. If the freezer was in a defrost cycle, check it in about an hour to ensure it is working.

When the defrost system kicks in, frost buildup on the evaporator coils melts and water is collected in a trough beneath it-more than usual. It is funneled through a defrost drain tube or channel down the back of your refrigerator and collected in a drain pan, where it is then left to evaporate.

Often, the defrost cycle turns off before the water can finish draining, and the refrigerator continues to cool. Ice buildup then forms along the system, and eventually water collects and puddles in the bottom of the refrigerator as melted ice continues to drip from the evaporator coils.

If there is ice buildup, allow the unit to thaw:
1. Remove food from the entire unit, storing it in coolers packed with ice, and remove the freezer shelves. Unplug the unit.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove the panel inside the freezer at the back to access the evaporator coils and trough.
3. Leave open the doors and allow the ice in the trough and along the defrost drain system to thaw by itself. This should take several hours. Note: Keep plenty of towels around and be prepared for the drain pan to fill quickly.
4. When thawing is complete, replace the panel and restore power to the unit. When it is cooling again, replace the food.

I have a hotpoint frostfree freezer that is over

Since this is a frost free refrigerator/freezer, you shouldn't need to defrost it, and the frost should not be building as you describe.

If your OK with diagnostic troubleshooting techniques, and have a volt-ohm meter and know how to use it, we can figure out whats wrong with your unit.

This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Here is an report I just read recently!
Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!
Please do not for get to give a rating before you sign off!
Thank You, HUUUM

Whirlpool Refrigerator squealing in the freezer section

On the refrigerator, most likely it's one of the fans, If its coming from the back of the refer it would be the condensor fan. If it's coming from inside the freezer, it would be the evaporator fan.
