E-04 Key in mode switch was turned before completing last opereration. Turning key to X then pressing subtotal usually fixes problem.

    E04 is "Mode switch position changed before finalization", the manual suggests "return mode switch to original position and finalize operation"
    But - if you don't know what was being done at the time that the error was caused I don't know how to fix it??
    I've spent ages going through the various key positions pressing combinations of button #37 & sub-total but none of them have made any difference...

Hi,

These are the two methods you can try to fix your problem:

Error E04: means that a clerk switch was done
if you try the second solution this should reset the erc to a default programm...11501 depending on the ECR's IPL installed.

First method:

Make sure that you keep the journal key down when switching your key from off to pgm and wait couple of seconds before releasing it.
A display with all zero confirms the operation, then enter
11501(I am not sure,will check),depress Sub-total wait for
a tone or a receipt.
if tone : looking for ecr network designation depress Sub-total and should see that It has become an independent ECR.
IF Receipt: everything is fine.
If you have clerk push button depress #1 (default Clerk key)
Go to REG position and try a default Dept and Tender should have been loaded.

Second method:

put the key in off position
press the journal feed
while pressing the journal feed, turns the key in to the program position
releas the journal feed key (the display shows a lot of zero's)
press 11501 and press subtotal.
when there's a receipt print turns the key back into the reg position.
the ecr should now work, with a default program.

error E004 means : Initialization or unit lock clear operation in progress
Well, the solution according to Casio, is to let the operation complete. So just wait a while and hopefully all should be OK.

Should that not work, you can contact Casio Live Support at +1 800-638-9228 at the following times:

9:00am to 8:00pm
Monday - Friday


9:00am to 5:00pm
Saturday/Sunday

It is locked and a code that is eo1 is on the screen it is the casio 3700


It simply means you started a sequence then tried to use another mode without finishing the sequence. Turn the key to each mode until the error stops. That is the mode you were last in and you must finish what you started in that mode before you turn the key again.

Casio qt6600 unable to sign on as error code E052 chk/tbl busy , can anybody tell me how to clear


They are tricky. I think it has to do with signing on while a check hasn't been closed. Check each terminal in the network to see which one has a check open. I avoid these terminals due to the complexity. It pays to have the manuals and work through the error code pages and troubleshooting. Casio won't give them to you. Last customer I sent to C-tech as they have the manuals and I don't:
